Calcific tendinosis is characterized by the deposition of calcium hydroxyapatite crystals within the substance of the tendon. We present a case of a 52-year-old female who presented with a 6-month history of right wrist pain, along with a palpable and tender lump in the region of the flexor carpi radialis tendon at the level of the distal radius. Radiographs confirmed the presence of calcific tendinosis of the flexor carpi radialis tendon.

Article Synopsis
  • Myositis ossificans (MO) is a condition where bone forms in muscles, commonly affecting people aged 20-40 due to trauma, particularly in areas like the quadriceps and flexor muscles.
  • A case study details a 19-year-old male with a 6-year history of right elbow pain and limited movement after trauma, leading to surgical removal of the irregular bony mass found in his elbow.
  • Proper diagnosis is crucial to differentiate between traumatic and non-traumatic MO, as surgical excision is often needed to manage mature lesions, and a biopsy helps ensure there's no cancerous growth.

We document our experience with a 27-year-old female patient presenting with calcific tendinitis in the flexor hallucis brevis (FHB), along with a review of the relevant literature.

Dactylitis is a clinical concept that corresponds to the swelling of the whole finger or toe giving a sausage appearance. Although it can be observed in different diseases, it is a distinctive clinical feature of psoriatic arthritis and is associated with a poor prognosis. Ultrasound has made it possible to improve our understanding of the pathogenesis of psoriatic arthritis dactylitis, identifying associated structural alterations, namely, flexor tenosynovitis, subcutaneous tissue edema, pulley inflammation with thickening and intra-pulley Doppler signals, extensor paratenonitis, synovitis, pericapsular bone formation, and flexor enthesitis.
