Contemporary therapies following heart failure center on regenerative approaches to account for the loss of cardiomyocytes and limited regenerative capacity of the adult heart. While the delivery of cardiac progenitor cells has been shown to improve cardiac function and repair following injury, recent evidence has suggested that their paracrine effects (or secretome) provides a significant contribution towards modulating regeneration, rather than the progenitor cells intrinsically. The direct delivery of secretory biomolecules, however, remains a challenge due to their lack of stability and tissue retention, limiting their prolonged therapeutic efficacy.

Background: Neurogenic bladder dysfunction is a common consequence of stroke, and it substantially impacts the quality of life and functional independence of affected individuals. Traditional treatment modalities have limitations in achieving optimal outcomes. This study aims to explore the effects of electroacupuncture treatment on bladder function and neurogenic bladder urodynamic characteristics in stroke patients.

In this study, a novel nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dot/oxidized gum arabic-gelatin-based fluorescent probe (NAH) was prepared using gelatin (GL) and gum arabic (AG) biomolecules. The primary network structure of this hydrogel consisted of polyacrylamide (PAM), while a secondary network structure was constructed between oxidized gum arabic and gelatin through the reaction of the Schiff base, which significantly enhanced the mechanical properties, the stress and strain of NAH reached 266.47 KPa and 2175.

Background: Hypotension during anesthesia for surgery for hip fracture is common and associated with myocardial injury, stroke, acute kidney injury, and delirium. We hypothesized that maintaining intraoperative blood pressure close to patients' preoperative values would reduce these complications compared to usual care.
Methods: A pilot feasibility patient- and assessor-blinded parallel group randomized controlled trial.
