The compound m-Cresol, also referred to as 3-methylphenol,acts as a precursor in the creation of pesticides and plasticizers. This research has conducted a thorough evaluation of the toxic effects of m-cresol on the cardiac development of juvenile zebrafish, from 6 to 72 hpf. The study's results reveal that higher concentrations of m-Cresol, compared to lower ones, result in more severe heart abnormalities in zebrafish larvae.

With the rising prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and obesity, several previously under-recognised complications associated with T2DM are becoming more evident. The most common of these emerging complications are metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), cancer, dementia, sarcopenia, and frailty, as well as other conditions involving the lung, heart, and intestinal tract. Likely causative factors are chronic inflammation and insulin resistance, whereas blood glucose levels appear to play a lesser role.

The thymus is a rich source of regulatory T cells and plays a role in self-tolerance. Therefore, transplantation of a vascularized donor thymus may facilitate the induction of tolerance in recipients of a cotransplanted heart allograft. To investigate this hypothesis, we developed a new technique to procure the heart and thymus en bloc from juvenile donors and transplant the composite allograft into thymectomized recipients.

Background: Lung transplantation is a viable lifesaving option for patients with diffuse pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). We present a case of diffuse pulmonary AVMs associated with juvenile polyposis and hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (JP-HHT) that was successfully managed by lung transplantation.
Case Presentation: A 19-year-old woman developed severe hypoxemia due to pulmonary AVMs diagnosed at 4 years of age.
