Stereo-EEG in Tuberous Sclerosis Complex.

Pediatr Neurol Briefs

Department of Neurology, Epilepsy Center, University Hospitals of Cleveland Medical Center, Cleveland, OH.

Published: March 2020

A collaborative research team lead by an investigator from the Lyon Neuroscience Research Center and Lyon University Hospital and Lyon 1 University studied epileptogenicity of tuber and its surrounding cortex using stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) in patients diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) (genetic or clinical).

Fetal cardiac tumors are often the first clinical manifestation of tuberous sclerosis (TS) when fetal ultrasound screening is performed. TS is an autosomal dominant disorder caused by the mutations in or genes. Here we report a case of a patient with a fetal and neonatal cardiac tumor who underwent a genetic analysis for TS after birth.

TSC complex decrease the expression of mTOR by regulated miR-199b-3p.

Key Laboratory of Chemical Biology and Molecular Engineering of National Ministry of Education, Institutes of Biomedical Sciences, Shanxi University, Taiyuan, 030006, China.

The TSC complex formed by TSC1 and TSC2 is the most important upstream negative regulator of mTORC1. Genetic variations in either TSC1 or TSC2 cause tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) disease which is a rare autosomal dominant disorder resulting in impairment of multiple organ systems. In this study, besides a reported variation, c.

Background: Brain intraparenchymal schwannoma is a rare clinical entity, generally curable with adequate resection.

Methods And Results: We describe a case in a male patient first presenting at 19 months of age, the youngest reported age for this lesion. It also appears to be the first case connected to a germline TSC2 p.

As one of the most commonly used general anesthetics (GAs) in surgery, numerous studies have demonstrated the detrimental effects of sevoflurane exposure on myelination in the developing and elderly brain. However, the impact of sevoflurane exposure on intact myelin structure in the adult brain is barely discovered. Here, we show that repeated sevoflurane exposure, but not single exposure, causes hypomyelination and abnormal ultrastructure of myelin sheath in the prefrontal cortex (PFC) of adult male mice, which is considered as a critical brain region for general anesthesia mediated consciousness change.

Objective: This study evaluates the utility of word embeddings, generated by large language models (LLMs), for medical diagnosis by comparing the semantic proximity of symptoms to their eponymic disease embedding ("eponymic condition") and the mean of all symptom embeddings associated with a disease ("ensemble mean").

Materials And Methods: Symptom data for 5 diagnostically challenging pediatric diseases-CHARGE syndrome, Cowden disease, POEMS syndrome, Rheumatic fever, and Tuberous sclerosis-were collected from PubMed. Using the Ada-002 embedding model, disease names and symptoms were translated into vector representations in a high-dimensional space.
