Purpose: To evaluate the interobserver agreement of chest computed tomography (CT) findings in the diagnosis of expected changes and local recurrence after stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) in patients with early-stage lung cancer or a single pulmonary metastasis.
Materials And Methods: A total of 54 patients with early-stage lung cancer or pulmonary metastasis who were treated with SBRT from 2007 to 2015 were included. The exclusion criteria were patients who presented with pulmonary infection during follow-up and patients who underwent a single CT during follow-up. The imaging features on CT were assessed by 3 blinded radiologists at the following 2 time points after SBRT: (a) early follow-up and (b) late follow-up (≥6 mo). The radiologists classified the findings as expected changes after SBRT or recurrence. Interobserver agreement was assessed by kappa and Wilcoxon statistics.
Results: A total of 13 women and 41 men with a mean age of 75.3 (±8.9) years were selected. The total and per fraction SBRT doses were 54 Gy (interquartile range: 45 to 54) and 18 Gy (interquartile range: 15 to 18), respectively. All expected changes and findings suggestive of recurrence had an almost perfect agreement (κ>0.85) among readers, except for diffuse consolidation in the early period (κ=0.65).
Conclusion: CT findings demonstrate high interobserver agreement for expected changes and for findings indicating recurrence after SBRT.

The design of organic-peptide hybrids has the potential to combine our vast knowledge of protein design with small molecule engineering to create hybrid structures with complex functions. Here, we describe the computational design of a photoswitchable Ca-binding organic-peptide hybrid. The designed molecule, designated Ca-binding switch (CaBS), combines an EF-hand motif from classical Ca-binding proteins such as calmodulin with a photoswitchable group that can be reversibly isomerized between a spiropyran (SP) and merocyanine (MC) state in response to different wavelengths of light.

Natural and artificial selection in domesticated animals can cause specific changes in genomic regions known as selection signatures. Our study used the integrated haplotype score (iHS) and Tajima's D tests within non-overlapping windows of 100 kb to identify selection signatures, in addition to genetic diversity and linkage disequilibrium estimates in 9498 sheep from breeds in Ireland (Belclare, Charollais, Suffolk, Texel, and Vendeen). The mean observed and expected heterozygosity for all the sheep breeds were 0.

Background: Global comparisons of the burden and impact of cancers of the brain and central nervous system (CNS) are critical for developing effective control strategies and generating etiological hypotheses to drive future research.
Methods: National incidence estimates were obtained from GLOBOCAN 2022, and recorded incidence data from the Cancer in Five Continents series, both developed and compiled by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. We examined the estimated age-standardized incidence rates in 185 countries, as well as time trends in recorded incidence in 35 countries, quantifying the direction and change in the magnitude of the rates using the estimated average percentage change (EAPC).

Digeneans of the family Notocotylidae differ from other digeneans in their peculiar eggs. The eggs feature a pair of long filaments extending from their poles, and their contents differ significantly from what we expect to observe in the eggs of digeneans. Instead of a ciliated miracidium larva, the notocotylid egg contains a tiny few-celled mother sporocyst.

Purpose Of Review: This review presents contemporary data on epidemiology, common presentations, investigations and diagnostic algorithms, treatment and prognosis. It particularly focuses on topics of most relevance to heart failure specialists, including what left ventricle (LV) function changes can be expected after treatment and outcomes to all standard and advanced heart failure therapies.
Recent Findings: Around 5% of sarcoidosis patients have clinically manifest cardiac sarcoidosis (CS), presenting with significant arrhythmias (such as conduction disturbances and ventricular arrhythmias) or newly developed unexplained heart failure.
