Objectives: Report our experience with the use of contrast-enhanced serial voiding urosonography (SVU) for posterior urethral valve (PUV) patient diagnosis and management.
Material And Methods: Descriptive retrospective study in 0- to 14-year-old patients with suspected PUV at SVU performed as a first contrast-enhanced urinary tract test with subsequent cystoscopic study. Variables were analyzed using SPSSv22.
Results: 18 patients were studied (median age: 6 months). Most patients (15) presented posterior urethral dilatation (mean diameter: 9.56 mm) and a >2 mm gap between proximal and distal urethra. 13 cases had bladder thickening and 9 had VUR. 15 PUV cases, 1 case of distal urethral mucocele, and 1 case of bladder diverticulum obstructing the urethra were diagnosed. Complete PUV resection was performed in 10 patients (66.6%) at the first cystoscopy. The control SVU detected one case of recurrence due to persistence of posterior urethral dilatation. The recurrence case and the 5 incomplete resection cases were treated with a second cystoscopy and resection. The youngest patients required a third resection and cutting balloon dilatation due to residual stenosis. Mean creatinine levels at diagnosis were 0.28 mg/dl.
Conclusions: Serial voiding urosonography (SVU) is a useful complementary test in pediatric patients with posterior urethral valve. Its dynamic nature and its advantages - absence of irradiation, safety, and high sensitivity - make it an ideal imaging test for PUV diagnosis and follow-up.

Anterior prostate cancers (APCs) are a group of impalpable neoplasms located in regions anterior to the urethra, which comprise the transition zone, apical peripheral zone and anterior fibromuscular stroma. These regions are typically undersampled using conventional biopsy schemes, leading to a low detection rate for APC and a high rate of false negatives. Radical prostatectomy series suggest prevalence rates of at least 10-30%, but transperineal systematic biopsy is ideal for diagnosis, particularly where multiparametric MRI is unavailable.

Magnetic resonance imaging after Retzius-sparing showed that the bladder anterior wall is widely connected to the abdominal wall, which contributes to urinary continence. Purpose: To determine the clinical effects of urethral suspension-assisted urethral anastomosis on complex long-segment posterior urethral stricture and describe the technical aspects of this procedure.
Materials And Methods: The clinical data for 24 patients who underwent urethral suspension-assisted urethral anastomosis for complex long-segment posterior urethral stricture between March 2021 and March 2024 were retrospectively analyzed. The surgical procedure comprises the following four steps: creation of an inverted Y-shaped incision in the perineum; mobilization of the urethra up to the penile-scrotal junction followed by dissection and separation of the septum of the corpus cavernosum; separation of the inferior pubic symphysis, excising a portion of the inferior pubic symphysis bone tissue and thoroughly clearing the scar tissue surrounding the proximal urethra; and suturing and suspension of the proximal urethra and surrounding tissues at the 2, 5, 7, and 10 o'clock positions, ensuring complete exposure of the proximal urethral mucosa and tension-free anastomosis between the proximal and distal urethra.
Objective: To describe our experience with anorectal malformation (ARM) patients, while analyzing complications and risk factors.
Materials And Methods: A retrospective study of ARM patients aged 0-18 years old undergoing surgery from 2006 to 2023 was carried out. Demographic variables, associated malformations, age and repair surgery operating times, presence and type of colostomy, previous intestinal preparation, and presence and type of surgical complications -intestinal occlusion, anal prolapse, stenosis, bleeding, dehiscence, extrusion, anoplasty misposition, urethral perforation, and stomal complications- were collected.
