This case report presents a 34-year-old woman who was referred to our regional plastic surgery unit following a 32-year history of a progressively enlarging mass overlying the left maxilla. The mass was initially diagnosed and treated as a low-flow vascular malformation. However, subsequent histopathological assessment confirmed the diagnosis of a cutaneous neurofibroma. To the best of our knowledge, there are only two other reported cases of a solitary neurofibroma arising from the soft tissue of the face, and this is the first reported case in the United Kingdom (UK). This article highlights difficulties in pre-operative diagnosis of solitary facial neurofibromas. We present our experience in managing this unusual case, discuss radiological clues to aid diagnosis and provide a review of the literature.

Solitary fibrous tumours (SFTs) are rare soft tissue masses that are often clinically silent until they cause mass effect. A paraneoplastic syndrome manifesting as persistent hypoglycaemia, termed Doege-Potter syndrome (DPS), can be associated with these lesions. Surgical treatment is recommended for the management of these tumours.

Pleural tuberculoma is often observed during treatment for tuberculous pleurisy; however, this condition is rarely found as a solitary pleural nodule in patients without a history of tuberculosis treatment, and no cases have been reported in children. We report a case of a 12-year-old boy with pleural tuberculoma presenting as a solitary mass. He had a fever and cough that prompted chest radiography, which revealed a mass in the right lung.

Nevus lipomatosus cutaneous superficialis (NLCS) is a rare dermatological condition characterized by ectopic mature adipocytes in the dermis. The classic variety presents multiple clustered skin-colored nodules, while the solitary form is a single papule or nodule. We report the case of a 25-year-old female who presented with multiple cerebriform nodules coalescing into a large plaque over the left iliac region that developed over 17 months.
