A 69-year-old man underwent a Miles operation with D3 lymph node dissection for rectal cancer. The pathological diagnosis was adenocarcinoma(Rb, A, ly2, v3, N2M0P0H0, Stage Ⅲb). Adjuvant chemotherapy was added for 6 months after the rectal resection. Metastasis in the left lung was detected 1 year and 10 months after rectal resection for which large segmental resection was performed. Without the onset of any new lesions, the patient underwent subsequent follow-up examinations. Abdominal CT performed for increased tumor marker levels observed at 6 years and 8 months after rectal resection revealed a mass suggestive of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma for which distal pancreatectomy was performed. The pathological diagnosis was metastasis to the pancreas from the rectal cancer as the tumor cells were immunohistochemically negative for cytokeratin 7 and positive for cytokeratin 20. There has been no indication of recurrence for 13 months after the pancreatic surgery. Resectable pancreatic metastasis from colorectal cancer is rarely reported. However, pancreatic resection may result in long-term survival in some cases. Patients that tolerate pancreatectomy and have no metastasis in the other organs should be considered good candidates for pancreatic resection. We present this case with a review of the literature.
Purpose: To present an innovative deformable applicator that used Freiburg flap as vaginal applicator with or without free-hand interstitial needles in three-dimensional (3D) high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy for vaginal stump recurrence of cervical cancer.
Material And Methods: Between September 2017 and January 2020, all patients with vaginal stump recurrence after radical hysterectomy of cervical cancer treated with vaginal stump brachytherapy using Freiburg flap as vaginal applicator with or without free-hand interstitial needles were retrospective analyzed. Characteristics related to patients and treatment modality as well as preliminary outcomes and side effects were investigated.
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to analyze patients with vaginal-involving recurrences of gynecological tumors and primary vaginal tumors, treated with transperineal interstitial brachytherapy (P-ISBT). Dosimetric, clinical, and toxicity analysis of these patients was conducted, incorporating MRI in volume definition and dose-volume dosimetry.

We previously reported that mice immunized twice with a lipid nanoparticle vaccine comprising four monkeypox viral mRNAs raised neutralizing antibodies and antigen-specific T cells and were protected against a lethal intranasal challenge with vaccinia virus (VACV). Here we demonstrated that the mRNA vaccine also protects mice against intranasal and intraperitoneal infections with monkeypox virus and bioluminescence imaging showed that vaccination greatly reduces or prevents VACV replication and spread from intranasal, rectal, and dermal inoculation sites. A single vaccination provided considerable protection that was enhanced by boosting for at least 4 months.
A 54-year-old man presented with constipation with a six-month duration and a 5 kg weight loss over 10 months. He had undergone a subtotal gastrectomy and chemotherapy for advanced gastric cancer 13 years earlier. A colonoscopy revealed a firm, circular, in-growing mass in the rectum.
Objective: Aim: To evaluate and compare the functional outcomes and quality of life in distal rectal cancer patients after low anterior resection with the formation of a transverse double-fold reservoir (TDFR) and without it.
Patients And Methods: Materials and Methods: The retrospective study enrolled 80 patients with distal rectal cancer: 40 patients who underwent low anterior resection with the formation of a TDFR, and 40 patients with the formation of a colorectal anastomosis (control group). The follow-up period was 10-60 months, with a median follow-up of 36 months after primary surgery.
