Since the development of first lipid-based nanocarrier system, about 15% of the present pharmaceutical market uses nanomedicines to achieve medical benefits. Nanotechnology is an advanced area to meliorate the delivery of compounds for improved medical diagnosis and curing disease. Nanomedicines are gaining significant interest due to the ultra small size and large surface area to mass ratio. In this review, we discuss the potential of nanotechnology in delivering of active moieties for the disease therapy including their toxicity evidences. This communication will help the formulation scientists in understanding and exploring the new aspects of nanotechnology in the field of nanomedicine.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a highly malignant subtype of glioma, originating from the glial cells that provide support to other neurons in the brain. GBM predominantly impacts the cerebral hemisphere of the brain, with minimal effects on the cerebellum, brain stem, or spinal cord. Individuals diagnosed with GBM commonly encounter a range of symptoms, starting from auditory abnormalities to seizures.

Tin sulphide compounds (SnS, x = 1, 2) are potential anode materials for potassium-ion batteries (PIBs) due to their characteristic layered structure, high theoretical capacity, non-toxicity and low production cost. However, they suffer from significant volume changes resulting in poor performance of such anodes. In this work incorporation of SnS into the carbon structure was expected to overcome these disadvantages.

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are small molecular peptides widely existing in the innate immunity of organisms, serving as the first line of defense. Natural AMPs possess various biological activities and are difficult to develop drug resistance. However, they are easily broken down by digestive enzymes in the body.

Large Scale Synthesis of Red-Emitting Quantum Dots for Efficient and Stable Light-Emitting Diodes.

Adv Mater

December 2024

Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology and Research Institute for Smart Energy, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Hung Hom, Hong Kong, P. R. China.

It is known that large-scale synthesis of emitters affords colloidal quantum dot (CQD) materials with a great opportunity toward the mass production of quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) based commercial electronic products. Herein, an unprecedented example of scalable CQD (> 0.5 kilogram) is achieved by using a core/shell structure of CdZnSe/ZnSeS/CdZnS, in which CdZnSe, ZnSeS, and CdZnS alloys are used as the inner core, transition layer and outermost shell, respectively.
