A direct competitive impedimetric immunoassay for chlorpyrifos (CPF) was developed that is based on the specific affinity of immunoassay and the enzymatic biocatalytic precipitation amplification strategy. The CPF antibody (anti-CPF) was anchored onto an electro-deposited nanogold modified glassy carbon electrode surface by adsorption of the Au-NH bond and Au-SH bond. This improved the electrode reactivity and the loading amount of anti-CPF. Abundant horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and bovine serum albumin-CPF (BSA-CPF) were anchored onto spherical gold nanoparticles (AuNPs, 16 ± 2 nm) to form HRP-AuNP-BSA-CPF (analyte competitor). CPF determination was achieved when the competitive immunoassay occurred between CPF and analyte competitor with anti-CPF. In the presence of HO and 4-chloro-1-naphthol, an enzyme-mediated biocatalytic precipitation process was triggered and produced an insoluble 4-chloro-1(4H)-naphthalenone. This insoluble substance increased the Faradaic impedance of the base electrode. The impedimetric signal was determined at the formal potential of 220 mV and alternating voltage of 10 mV. This signal decreased with increasing concentration of CPF over a linear range of 1.0 × 10 ng mL~10 ng mL with a detection limit of 0.070 pg mL. The immunoassay has been tested for determination of chlorpyrifos in complex matrices such as artificially spiked vegetables with recoveries in the range 85 to 110%. The relative standard deviations were less than 7.5%. Graphical abstractSchematic representation of electrochemical impedimetric immunoassay for chlorpyrifos determination before enzymatic biocatalytic precipitation (BCP, red line) process and after BCP process (blue line).

The integration of a photosensitive gate into an organic electrochemical transistor has currently emerged as a promising route for biological sensing. However, the modification of the photosensitive gate always involves complex processes, and the degradation of sensitivity of the functional materials under illumination will significantly decrease the stability of the devices. Herein, we designed an organic photoelectrochemical transistor (OPECT) biosensor employing horseradish peroxidase (HRP)@glucose oxidase (GOx)/Pt/n-Si as the photosensitive gate based on the "shadow effect".

Introduction: Laccases are blue-multicopper containing enzymes that are known to play a role in the bioconversion of recalcitrant compounds. Their role in free radical polymerization of aromatic compounds for their valorization remains underexplored. In this study, we used a pBAD plasmid containing a previously characterized CotA laccase gene (abbreviated as -Lacc) from strain ATCC 9945a to express this enzyme and explore its biotransformation/polymerization potential on β-naphthol.

D-allulose, a low-calorie functional sweetener, is produced by the enzymatic conversion of d-fructose via D-allulose 3-epimerase (DAE) and holds significant market potential, particularly for individuals with obesity and diabetes. However, the limited reusability and stability of DAE have restricted its industrial application. In this study, we developed functional superparamagnetic supports by integrating diatomite, a biomineralized silica-based material, with cobalt ferrite nanoparticles through a green chemical co-precipitation method.

Background: Nanozyme is a kind of biomimetic enzyme with unique properties and catalytic function of nanomaterials. Various nanozymes have been applied in the development of visual biosensors because of its excellent stability and availability. Nevertheless, the current applications of nanozymes primarily focus on colorimetric sensing based on color changes, which is susceptible to external factors interference including sample solution color and ambient light.

The ideal photoelectrode and efficient signaling strategy are pivotal to achieve sensitive photoelectrochemical (PEC) analysis. Here, a multipath collaborative signal amplification-based PEC immunosensor was constructed for the ultrasensitive detection of cytokeratin 19 fragment 21-1. Specifically, the photoelectrode fabricated by Z-scheme InO/g-CN heterojunction showed enhanced photocurrent intensity in response to visible light.
