Purpose: Allergic diseases have escalated to epidemic levels worldwide, impacting nearly 30% of the global population. Fungi are a significant source of allergens responsible for up to 6% of respiratory diseases in the general population. However, the specific cause of respiratory allergies often remains unidentified.

Purpose: SARS-CoV-2-specific CD8 cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) are crucial in viral clearance, disease progression, and reinfection control. However, numerous SARS-CoV-2 immunodominant CTL epitopes theoretically are still unidentified due to the genetic polymorphism of human leukocyte antigen class I (HLA-I) molecules.

Methods: The CTL epitopes of SARS-CoV-2 were predicted by the epitope affinity and immunogenicity prediction platforms: the NetMHCpan and the PromPPD.

Oncolytic adenoviruses derived from human serotype 5 (Ad5) are being developed to treat cancer. Treatment efficacy could be affected by pre-existing or induced neutralizing antibodies (NAbs), in particular in repeat administration strategies. Several oncolytic adenoviruses that are currently in clinical development have modified fiber proteins to increase their infectivity.

Decoding the blueprint of receptor binding by filoviruses through large-scale binding assays and machine learning.

Cell Host Microbe

Evidence suggests that bats are important hosts of filoviruses, yet the specific species involved remain largely unidentified. Niemann-Pick C1 (NPC1) is an essential entry receptor, with amino acid variations influencing viral susceptibility and species-specific tropism. Herein, we conducted combinatorial binding studies with seven filovirus glycoproteins (GPs) and NPC1 orthologs from 81 bat species.

Investigating the reassortment potential and pathogenicity of the S segment in Akabane virus using a reverse genetics system.

BMC Vet Res

Laboratory of Veterinary Infectious Disease, College of Veterinary of Medicine, Jeonbuk National University, Iksan, Jeonbuk, 54596, Republic of Korea.

Background: Akabane virus (AKAV) is an arthropod-borne virus that causes congenital malformations and neuropathology in cattle and sheep. In South Korea, AKAVs are classified into two main genogroups: K0505 and AKAV-7 strains. The K0505 strain infects pregnant cattle, leading to fetal abnormalities, while the AKAV-7 strain induces encephalomyelitis in post-natal cattle.
