As the first member of the solute carrier 6 (SLC6) protein family, the γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) transporter 1 (GAT1, ), plays a pivotal role in the uptake of GABA from the synaptic cleft into neurons and astrocytes. This process facilitates the subsequent storage of GABA in presynaptic vesicles. The human gene is highly susceptible to missense mutations, leading to severe clinical outcomes, such as epilepsy, in the afflicted patients.

The Role of a Confined Space on the Reactivity and Emission Properties of Copper(I) Clusters.

Metal clusters have gained a lot of interest for their remarkable photoluminescence and catalytic properties. However, a major drawback of such materials is their poor stability in air and humidity conditions. Herein we describe a versatile method to synthesize luminescent Cu(I) clusters inside the pores of zeolites, using a sublimation technique with the help of high vacuum and high temperature.

Dietary polyglycosylated anthocyanins, the smart option? A comprehensive review on their health benefits and technological applications.

Over the years, anthocyanins have emerged as one of the most enthralling groups of natural phenolic compounds and more than 700 distinct structures have already been identified, illustrating the exceptional variety spread in nature. The interest raised around anthocyanins goes way beyond their visually appealing colors and their acknowledged structural and biological properties have fueled intensive research toward their application in different contexts. However, the high susceptibility of monoglycosylated anthocyanins to degradation under certain external conditions might compromise their application.

Background: Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) presents one of the main problems in the field of reproductive medicine, due to the unknown etiology in 50% of cases, as well as limited evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. Recent studies indicate that systemic and placental oxidative stress (OS) represents an essential factor in the etiopathogenesis of RPL. This article is a comprehensive narrative synthesis of previously published studies concerning the role of oxidative stress in the etiology of recurrent pregnancy loss.

Three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting is a highly innovative and promising technology to render precise positioning of biologics together with living cells and extracellular matrix (ECM) constituents. In spite of such enthralling potential, the fabrication of a clinically relevant engineered tissue is quite challenging. A constellation of factors simulating the complex architecture of the native tissue, selection of the "ideal bioink", optimization of the biochemical, mechanical, and topographical functions of the cell-laden printed construct, cellular differentiation, their self-assembly, and remodeling into the desired lineage postprinting present major complications.
