Although the role of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) and human adipose-derived stem cells (hADSC) in accelerating diabetic wound healing has been proven, their synergistic effect is still debated. This study aimed to evaluate the individual and combined effects of LLLT and hADSC on wound healing and on biomechanical parameters in type 2 diabetic rabbits. In this experimental study, 40 rabbits with type 2 diabetes (induced by streptozotocin (STZ)) were included.

C-terminal amidation of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) is a frequent minor modification used to improve antibacterial potency, commonly ascribed to increased positive charge, protection from proteases, and a stabilized secondary structure. Although the activity of AMPs is primarily associated with the ability to penetrate bacterial membranes, hitherto the effect of amidation on this interaction has not been understood in detail. Here, we show that amidation of the scorpion-derived membranolytic peptide AamAP1-Lys produces a potent analog with faster bactericidal activity, increased membrane permeabilization, and greater Gram-negative membrane penetration associated with greater conformational flexibility.

Background: End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) is an independent risk factor in outcomes for traditional coronary artery bypass grafting (TRAD-CAB) utilizing aortic cross-clamping and cardioplegic arrest. In order to determine if Beating-Heart CABG (BH-CABG) techniques offer benefit in patients with ESRD, an analysis of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) predicted risk versus the actual outcomes was performed.

Methods: Between March 2017 - October 2023, all ESRD patients underwent BH-CABG by a single surgeon at a single institution.

Hydrogel drug-delivery system that can effectively load antibacterial drugs, realize the in-situ drug release in the microenvironment of wound infection to promote wound healing. In this study, a multifunctional hydrogel drug delivery system (HA@TA-Okra) was constructed through the integration of hyaluronic acid methacrylate (HAMA) matrix with tannic acid (TA) and okra extract. The composition and structural characteristics of HA@TA-Okra system and its unique advantages in the treatment of diverse wounds were systematically evaluated.

The healing of bacteria-infected wounds has long posed a significant clinical challenge. Traditional hydrogel wound dressings often lack self-healing properties and effective antibacterial characteristics, making wound healing difficult. In this study, a bioactive small molecule cross-linking agent 4-FPBA/Lys/4-FPBA (FLF) composed of 4-formylphenylboronic acid (4-FPBA) and lysine (Lys) was utilized to cross-link guar gum (GG) and a tannic acid/iron (TA/Fe) chelate through multiple dynamic bonds, leading to the formation of a novel self-healing hydrogel dressing GG-FLF/TA/Fe.
