Introduction of African swine fever virus (ASFV) into pig herds can occur via virus-contaminated feed or other objects. Knowledge about ASFV survival in different matrices and under different conditions is required to understand indirect virus transmission. Maintenance of ASFV infectivity can occur for extended periods outside pigs.

Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is primarily associated with non-human-primates (NHPs) in Africa, which also infect humans. Since its introduction to Brazil in 2014, CHIKV has predominantly thrived in urban cycles, involving Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. Limited knowledge exists regarding CHIKV occurrence and implications in rural and sylvatic cycles where neotropical NHPs are potential hosts, from which we highlight Leontopithecus chrysomelas (Kuhl, 1820), the golden-headed lion tamarin (GHLT), an endangered species endemic to the Atlantic Forest (AF) in Southern Bahia State, Brazil.

The uterine endometrium consists of luminal epithelium, glandular epithelium, and stromal cells, with uterine glands playing a pivotal role in pregnancy success among mammals. Uterine glands secrete essential factors that regulate embryo development and implantation; however, their cellular biology remains poorly understood. This study presents a refined method for isolating three distinct endometrial cell types with high purity, with a specific emphasis on glandular epithelial cells.

Human papillomaviruses (HPV) from the genus beta have been implicated in the development of cutaneous squamous cell cancer in and organ transplant patients. In contrast to alpha-high-risk HPV, which cause ano-genital and oropharyngeal cancers, beta-HPV replication is not well understood. The beta-HPV49 transcriptome was analyzed by RNA sequencing using stable keratinocyte cell lines maintaining high levels of extrachromosomally replicating E8- genomes, which can be established due to a lack of the viral E8^E2 repressor protein.

Objectives: To assess the efficacy and safety of locally manufactured generic sofosbuvir-based direct-acting antivirals in the treatment of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infected patients on maintenance hemodialysis.
Patients And Methods: We have conducted a retrospective multicenter study including patients on maintenance hemodialysis, treated with sofosbuvir-based regimens between 01/01/2017 and 09/30/2021. Patients were treated for 12 or 24 weeks, with sofosbuvir 400 mg + ledipasvir 90 mg 3 times/week, or sofosbuvir 3 times/week + daclatasvir 60 mg/d, or sofosbuvir + daclatasvir in coformulation, 3 times/week.
