Two series of experiments were conducted on 17 mongrel dogs to investigate the participation of the lymphatic system of the head neck in drainage of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF): in increase of intracranial pressure (ICP) to 500 mm water column in the first series, and in ICP of 1,000 mm water column in the second series. 131I-labelled albumin was used as the indicator, which was added to the artificial CSF to increase the ICP. It was established that the lymphatic system of the head and neck takes part in CSF resorption which is most manifest in higher levels of intracranial hypertension.

Premetastatic cancer cells often spread from the primary lesion through the lymphatic vasculature and, clinically, the presence or absence of lymph node metastases impacts treatment decisions. However, little is known about cancer progression via the lymphatic system or of the effect that the lymphatic environment has on cancer progression. This is due, in part, to the technical challenge of studying lymphatic vessels and collecting lymph fluid.

Neurodegenerative diseases (ND) are characterized by the accumulation of aggregated proteins. The glymphatic system, through its rapid exchange mechanisms between cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and interstitial fluid (ISF), facilitates the movement of metabolic substances within the brain, serving functions akin to those of the peripheral lymphatic system. This emerging waste clearance mechanism offers a novel perspective on the removal of pathological substances in ND.

Introduction And Importance: Pulmonary lymphangitis carcinomatosis (PLC) is a rare and aggressive condition that silently spreads cancer cells through the lungs' lymphatic system. Often linked to advanced malignancies, PLC often mimics other pulmonary diseases, making diagnosis challenging. This report shares the unique case of an asymptomatic patient whose routine follow-up imaging led to the early discovery of PLC, highlighting the life-saving potential of attentive medical care.
