Background And Aims: We investigated the long-term safety and efficacy of budesonide oral suspension (BOS) in eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE).
Methods: This study (SHP621-303) was a 4-year, phase 3, open-label study in patients with EoE who completed up to 52 weeks of BOS therapy in two preceding phase 3 studies. Based on treatment assignments in previous studies, patients were assigned to BOS-BOS or placebo-BOS groups.

Introduction: Lymphocytic esophagitis (LyE) represents a chronic inflammatory disease of the esophagus with low response rates to topical steroids. Thus, novel treatment options such as swallowed topical tacrolimus, particularly for refractory cases, are urgently needed.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed patients with LyE enrolled in the Swiss eosinophilic esophagitis database that received treatment with a swallowed tacrolimus syrup (1 mg bid).

Importance: Patients with achalasia face a higher risk of developing esophageal cancer (EC), but the surveillance strategies for these patients remain controversial due to the long disease duration and the lack of identified risk factors.
Objective: To investigate the prevalence of esophageal Candida infection among patients with achalasia and to assess the association of Candida infection with EC risk within this population.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This retrospective cohort study included patients with achalasia diagnosed at or referred for treatment and monitoring to the Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, between January 1, 1980, and May 31, 2024.
