We report on measurements of high-order dispersion maps of an optical fiber, showing how the ratio between the third and fourth-order dispersion (β/β) and the zero-dispersion wavelength (λ) vary along the length of the fiber. Our method is based on Four-Wave Mixing between short pulses derived from an incoherent pump and a weak laser. We find that the variations in the ratio β/β are correlated to those in λ. We present also numerical calculations to illustrate the limits on the spatial resolution of the method. Due to the good accuracy in measuring λ and β/β (10 % and 5% relative error, respectively), and its simplicity, the method can be used to identify fiber segments of good uniformity, suitable to build nonlinear optical devices such as parametric amplifiers and frequency comb generators.

This study offers a comprehensive analysis of the Perturbed Schrödinger -Hirota Equation (PSHE), crucial for understanding soliton dynamics in modern optical communication systems. We extended the traditional Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation (NLSE) to include higher-order nonlinearities and spatiotemporal dispersion, capturing the complexities of light pulse propagation. Employing the modified auxiliary equation method and Adomian Decomposition Method (ADM), we derived a spectrum of exact traveling wave solutions, encompassing exponential, rational, trigonometric, and hyperbolic functions.

Hierarchical self-assembly driven by non-covalent interactions is a prevalent strategy employed by nature to construct sophisticated biomacromolecules, such as proteins. However, the construction of protein-like superstructures that rely on weaker dispersion forces-driven hierarchical assembly remains largely unexplored. Here, we report the first example of dispersion forces driving the high-order assembly of the lanthanide trinuclear circular helicate [HNEt₃]₃[Eu₃(L)₆] (ΔΔΔ-1) into a protein-like lanthanide octamer ((ΔΔΔ-1)₈-2).

We present a phase-matching scheme for efficient high-order harmonic generation in the water-window x-ray spectral region using a 405-nm driving pulse. A high-intensity pulse (∼10 W/cm) is used to produce He ions as the target medium, increasing the cutoff photon energy to the water-window x-ray spectral region. By adjusting the driving pulse divergence, the positive dipole phase variation balances the negative plasma dispersion and geometrical phase shift, achieving phase matching.

Digital radio-over-fiber (D-RoF) quantizes the wireless waveform to improve the noise tolerance in fronthaul links. Unlike conventional data transmission, the quantization bits exhibit different weights, offering a new strategy to protect the high-weight bits. By introducing a dual-drive MZM (DD-MZM)-based optical transmitter, the interaction between frequency chirp and chromatic dispersion (CD) results in eye closure/open.
