Propagation of a continuous spectrum of orbital angular momentum (OAM) states through a realistic and controlled 3-dimensional turbulent condition has not been studied to date to the authors' knowledge. Using the Higher Order Bessel-gauss Beams Integrated in Time (HOBBIT) system and a 60 meter optical path Variable Turbulence Generator (VTG), we demonstrate that by changing the OAM in a continuous scan, a spectrum of OAMs provide an opportunity to take advantage of additional propagation channels within the aperture of the transmitter and optical path to the receiver. Experimental results are provided illustrating the HOBBIT system's ability to position the beam in space and time to exploit eigenchannels in the turbulent medium. This technique can be used to probe the turbulence at time scales much faster than the Greenwood frequency.

Human cancer cell lines are the mainstay of cancer research. Recent reports showed that highly mutated adult carcinoma cell lines (mainly HeLa and MCF-7) present striking diversity across laboratories and that long-term continuous culturing results in genomic/transcriptomic heterogeneity with strong phenotypical implications. Here, we hypothesize that oligomutated pediatric sarcoma cell lines mainly driven by a fusion transcription factor, such as Ewing sarcoma (EwS), are genetically and phenotypically more stable than the previously investigated adult carcinoma cell lines.

Background: Lewy bodies (LBs), characterized by intraneuronal inclusions of misfolded alpha-synuclein (α-syn) protein, are the pathological hallmark of Parkinson's disease (PD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB). Because this protein is phosphorylated at serine-129 in 90% of LBs, its phosphorylation is considered a crucial pathogenic event in LB formation and disease development. Here, we present a unique brain autopsy case of a DLB patient with widespread LBs that were negative for phosphorylated-α-syn, challenging traditional diagnostic criteria.
