In a previously published paper [Opt. Express26(17), 22182 (2018)], the performance of a LDPC coded OAM-based UCA FSO system exploring linear equalization with channel estimation over atmospheric turbulence has been analyzed. We find that some concepts and descriptions in [Opt. Express26(17), 22182 (2018)] are inconsistent and paradoxical. In this comment, we point out the referred inconsistency and paradox one by one and present the correct explanations.

EXIT Charts for Low-Density Algebra-Check Codes.

Entropy (Basel)

December 2024

This paper focuses on the Low-Density Algebra-Check (LDAC) code, a novel low-rate channel code derived from the Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) code with expanded algebra-check constraints. A method for optimizing LDAC code design using Extrinsic Information Transfer (EXIT) charts is presented. Firstly, an iterative decoding model for LDAC is established according to its structure, and a method for plotting EXIT curves of the algebra-check node decoder is proposed.

Rate-Compatible, Bandwidth-Efficient, Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) Codes for Aeronautical Telemetry.

Low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes form part of the IRIG-106 standard and have been successfully deployed for the Telemetry Group version of shaped-offset quadrature phase shift keying (SOQPSK-TG) modulation. Recently, LDPC code solutions have been proposed and optimized for continuous phase modulations (CPMs), including pulse code modulation/frequency modulation (PCM/FM) and the multi-h CPM developed by the Advanced-Range TeleMetry program (ARTM CPM), the latter of which was shown to perform around one dB from channel capacity. In this paper, we consider the effect of the random puncturing and shortening of these LDPC codes to further improve spectrum efficiency.

To enhance the decoding efficiency of Globally Coupled (GC) LDPC codes, we incorporated Early Termination (ET) and Forced Convergence (FC) into the local/global two-phase decoding algorithm to expedite the decoding process. The two-phase decoding scheme integrates the ET technique to halt unnecessary iterations in the local decoding phase while employing the FC technique to accelerate convergence in the global phase decoding. The application of ET technology in the local decoding of GC-LDPC codes will not cause performance loss as in traditional block codes and will cause considerable complexity gains.

In this work, we proposed and experimentally demonstrated a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) Volterra polynomial equalizer (MVPE), in a probabilistic shaping (PS) polarization-division multiplexed (PDM) 4096-quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) coherent optical transmission system. In comparison with the conventional single-input single-output (SISO) Volterra nonlinear equalizers (VNLEs), the proposed MVPE can equalize the in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) components in both the X and Y polarizations simultaneously and effectively alleviate nonlinear distortions. In the PS-PDM-4096-QAM experiment, the normalized generalized mutual information (NGMI) reached the threshold of DVB-S2 low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes with a 20% overhead.

As high-speed big-data communications impose new requirements on storage latency, low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes have become a widely used technology in flash-memory channels. However, the iterative LDPC decoding algorithm faces a high decoding latency problem due to its mechanism based on iterative message transmission. Motivated by the unbalanced bit reliability of codeword, this paper proposes two technologies, i.
