Ultraviolet B (UV-B, 280-320 nm) radiation causes complex molecular reactions in cells, including DNA damage, oxidative stress, and apoptosis. This study designed a mixture consisting of quercetin, luteolin and lycopene and used as a model to study the resistance of these natural chemicals to UV-B. Specifically, we have confirmed that quercetin and its mixture can increase the resistance of to UV-B through lifespan test, reactive oxygen species level assay, germ cell apoptosis test, embryonic lethal test and RT-qPCR experiments. The results show that quercetin and its mixture prolonged the lifespan of UV-B-irradiated and reduced abnormal levels of reactive oxygen species, embryo death, and apoptosis induced by UV-B. The protective effect of quercetin and its mixture may be attributed to its down-regulation of , , and . Therefore, the results of this research could help the development of UV-B radiation protection agents.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Kochiae Fructus, the ripe fruit of Kochia scoparia, is a traditional Chinese medicine commonly used to treat eye discomforts and vision problems. Although Kochiae Fructus is mentioned in many classical Chinese medical texts, its protective effects and the roles of its active phytochemicals in eye treatment still lack scientific exploration.

Aim Of The Study: This study aimed to clarify the protective effects and identify the active fractions and compounds of Kochiae Fructus against oxidative stress-induced retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cell death.

This study investigated the antihyperglycemic potential of a hydroalcoholic extract from Syzygium malaccense leaves (E-SM) and isolate phenolic compounds with antioxidant and cytotoxic activities through a bioguided assay. The aim was to explore the therapeutic properties of S. malaccense in managing hyperglycemia and oxidative stress-related conditions.

This study evaluates how the polarity of the medium affects the binding efficiency of hydrophobic ligands with human serum albumin (HSA). The polarity of the aqueous medium was changed by adding 1,4-dioxane in concentrations of 0%, 10%, and 20% /, resulting in solvent mixtures with decreasing dielectric constants (ε = 80, 72, and 63). The addition of 1,4-dioxane did not affect the integrity of the protein, as confirmed by Far-UV-CD, Rayleigh scattering, and time-resolved fluorescence experiments.

The human dietary system, which contains a variety of compounds such as polyphenols and polysaccharides, is very complex. Whether polysaccharides affect the inhibitory of polyphenol mixtures on α-amylase needs to be further investigated. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect and mechanism of pectin on the inhibition of α-amylase by a mixture of rutin and quercetin (R-Q).
