Published: February 2020

The epidemic of the century, Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is continuously rising. Intensive research is urgently needed whereby experimental models represent an essential tool to optimise the diagnostic strategy and to improve therapy. In this review, we describe the central principles of the metabolic tests available in order to study glucose and insulin homeostasis in mice, focusing on the most widely used - the glucose and insulin tolerance tests. We provide detailed experimental procedures as well as the practical implementation of these methods and discuss the main factors that should be taken into account when using this methodology.

To understand the interactions of entomopathogenic fungi with forage plants and their influence on associated herbivorous, we evaluated the influence of endophytic colonization with three isolates (CEPAF_ENT 25, CEPAF_ENT 27, and IBCB 425) of Metarhizium anisopliae on Cynodon dactylon, regarding the biological and behavioral aspects of Collaria scenica, an emerging sucking pest in pastoral systems in Brazil. The application of suspensions at the base of plant (drench) was effective in promoting endophytic colonization, especially in the roots, with emphasis on isolates CEPAF_ENT25 and CEPAF_ENT27. Despite the significant reduction in damage caused by C.

Objective: As aneurysmal disease is progressive, proximal disease progression and para-anastomotic aneurysms are complications experienced after open infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm repair (AAA). As such, fenestrated or branched endovascular repair (F/BEVAR) may be indicated in these patients. Data describing fenestrated endovascular aneurysm repair after prior open repair are limited to institutional databases.

Drought stress during the plant's growing season is a serious constraint to plant establishment in arid and semiarid Mediterranean ecosystems. Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) as environmentally friendly and innovative management approach can be used to produce seedlings better adapted to these environments. We tested native PGPR strains isolated from drought-tolerant tree and shrub species originating from two climatically contrasting regions: hot-dry (Dehloran) and milder Mediterranean climate (Ilam).

Unlabelled: is one of the most virulent bacterial pathogens known and causes the disease tularemia, which can be fatal if untreated. This zoonotic and intracellular pathogen is exposed to diverse environmental and host stress factors that require an appropriate response to survive. However, the stress tolerance mechanisms used by to persist are not fully understood.

Background And Objective: This study determined whether practitioners specializing in keratoconus (KC) adhere to published guidelines for disease management and to what extent comorbid conditions of dry eye, contact lens tolerance, and psychological consequences of KC are formally assessed as part of long-term management.

Materials And Methods: This cross-sectional study used an IRB-approved, Internet-based, REDCap platform. Descriptive statistics are presented.
