The topological surface states (TSS) in topological insulators (TIs) can exert strong spin-orbit torque (SOT) on adjacent magnetization, offering great potential in implementing energy-efficient magnetic memory devices. However, there are large discrepancies among the reported spin Hall angle values in TIs, and its temperature dependence still remains elusive. Here, the spin Hall angle in a modulation-doped Cr-Bi Sb Te (Cr-BST) film is quantitatively determined via both transport and optic approaches, where consistent results are obtained. A large spin Hall angle of ≈90 in the modulation-doped Cr-BST film is demonstrated at 2.5 K, and the spin Hall angle drastically decreases to 0.3-0.5 as the temperature increases. Moreover, by tuning the top TSS carrier concentration, a competition between the top and bottom TSS in contributing to SOT is observed. The above phenomena can account for the large discrepancies among the previously reported spin Hall angle values and reveal the unique role of TSS in generating SOT.

The magnetic, electronic, and topological properties of GdPtBi were systematically investigated using first-principles density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Various magnetic configurations were examined, including ferromagnetic (FM) and antiferromagnetic (AFM) states, with particular focus on AFM states where the Gd magnetic moments align either parallel (AFM) or perpendicular (AFM) to the [111] crystal direction. For AFM, the in-plane angles were varied at = 0°, 15°, and 30° (denoted as AFM, AFM, and AFM, respectively).

We consider a problem of nonlinear response to an external electromagnetic radiation in conventional disordered superconductors which contain a small amount of weak magnetic impurities. We focus on the diffusive limit and use Usadel equation to analyze the excitation energy and dispersion relation of the collective modes. We determine the resonant frequency and dispersion of both amplitude (Schmidt-Higgs) and phase (Carlson-Goldman) modes for moderate strength of magnetic scattering.

We realize a Laughlin state of two rapidly rotating fermionic atoms in an optical tweezer. By utilizing a single atom and spin resolved imaging technique, we sample the Laughlin wave function thereby revealing its distinctive features, including a vortex distribution in the relative motion, correlations in the particles' relative angle, and suppression of the interparticle interactions. Our Letter lays the foundation for atom-by-atom assembly of fractional quantum Hall states in rotating atomic gases.

A fundamental manifestation of the nontrivial correlations of an incompressible fractional quantum Hall (FQH) state is that an electron added to it disintegrates into more elementary particles, namely fractionally-charged composite fermions (CFs). We show here that the Girvin-MacDonald-Platzman (GMP) density-wave excitation of the ν=n/(2pn±1) FQH states also splits into more elementary single CF excitons. In particular, the GMP graviton, which refers to the recently observed spin-2 neutral excitation in the vanishing wave vector limit [Liang et al.
