A Gram-negative and facultative anaerobic bacterium, designated strain SN4, was isolated from the stool sample of an obese Amazonian patient. The new isolate was characterized by the taxonogenomics approach. The strain SN4 was beige-colored, circular and not haemolytic. Cells are rod shaped and motile with several flagella. Strain SN4 grows optimally at pH 7 and can survive in the presence of a saline concentration of up to 75 g/l NaCl. The 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequence analysis of the novel strain SN4 showed 95.28% similarity in nucleotide sequence with Gorillibacterium massiliense G5, the phylogenetically closest neighbor and the type species of this genus. Anteiso-C, iso-C and C were found as the major components in the cellular fatty acid analysis of this isolate. The genomic draft of strain SN4 is 5,263,742 bp long with 53.33% of G+C content. The differences in physiological, biochemical characteristics and phylogenetic and genomic data make it possible to clearly distinguish the strain SN4 from G. massiliense G5. Based on the taxonogenomic description and the phenotypic and biochemical characteristics of this bacterium presented in this article, we propose the SN4 strain (= CSUR P2011 = DSM 100,698) as a new species, Gorillibacterium timonense sp. nov.

Rapid capacity fading, interfacial instability, and thermal runaway due to oxygen loss are critical obstacles hindering the practical application and commercialization of Ni-rich cathodes (LiNiCoMnO, NCM811). Herein, a Sn/F codoping and LiF-coated Ni-rich cathode, denoted as NCM811-SF, is structurally fabricated that demonstrates very high cyclic and thermal stabilities. The introduction of Sn regulates the local electronic structure and facilitates the conversion of the layered structure into a spinel phase; F captures lithium impurities to form LiF coatings and forms TM-F bonds to reduce Ni/Li disordering.

Interfacial Molecular Lock Enables Highly Efficient Tin Perovskite Solar Cells.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

November 2023

College of Physics, Jilin University, Changchun 130012, P. R. China.

Tin perovskite solar cells (TPSCs) have been facing challenges in power conversion efficiency (PCE) and long-term stability due to the easy oxidation of Sn and the migration of iodine ions, which create populated trap states and cause detrimental recombination of photogenerated carriers. In this work, we design a novel "molecular lock" to suppress the oxidation and iodine migration of tin perovskites by introducing F-type pseudohalide tetrafluoroborate (BF) and natural multifunctional antioxidant myricetin (CHO). We find that the incorporation of BF releases lattice strain and enhances the structural stability of tin perovskites.

Background: Postbiotics are an emerging research interest in recent years and are fairly advanced compared to prebiotics and probiotics. The composition and function of postbiotics are closely related to fermentation conditions.

Methods: In this study, we developed a solid-state fermentation preparation method for postbiotics with antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activities.

Our calculations of the global instability index (G) values for some diamond-like materials with the general formula I-II-IV-VI have indicated that the structures may be unstable or incorrectly determined. To compute the G value of a given compound, the bond valence sums (BVSs) must first be calculated using a crystal structure. Two examples of compounds with high G values, based on data from the literature, are the wurtz-stannite-type dicopper cadmium silicon tetrasulfide (CuCdSiS) and the stannite-type dicopper mercury tin tetrasulfide (CuHgSnS), which were first reported in 1967 and 1965, respectively.

Next-generation electronics and energy technologies can now be developed as a result of the design, discovery, and development of novel, environmental friendly lead (Pb)-free ferroelectric materials with improved characteristics and performance. However, there have only been a few reports of such complex materials' design with multi-phase interfacial chemistry, which can facilitate enhanced properties and performance. In this context, herein, novel lead-free piezoelectric materials (1-x)Ba Ca Ti Zr O -(x)Ba Ca Ti Sn O , are reported, which are represented as (1-x)BCZT-(x)BCST, with demonstrated excellent properties and energy harvesting performance.
