AI Article Synopsis

  • The study identified five pigments and one colorless substance in the dorsal skin of nine frog species from different families.
  • The pigments included pterin-6-carboxylic acid, xanthopterin, isoxanthopterin, erythro-biopterin, and 6-hydroxymethylpterin, along with guanine as the colorless substance.
  • Additionally, a unique pigment found only in the genus Rhacophorus was identified as a pteridine derivative made up of five pterin-6-carboxylic acid molecules.

Article Abstract

The five pigments 1-5 and a colorless substance 6 were present in the dorsal skin of frogs of nine selected species belonging to Rhacophoridae, Ranidae, Hylidae, and Bufonidae and were identified as pterin-6-carboxylic acid, xanthopterin, isoxanthopterin, erythro-biopterin, 6-hydroxymethylpterin, and guanine, respectively. Another pigment 7 was specifically present in the skin of genus Rhacophorus and was deduced to be a pteridine derivative composed of five molecules of pterin-6-carboxylic acid [1].

Background: The pathogenesis of deterministic radiation damage is not clearly understood, but it has been reported that fibroinflammatory pathways are up-regulated. We hypothesized that the number of adipose-derived stem/stromal cells (ASCs) decline after radiotherapies, preventing normalization of fibrosis and angiogenesis, resulting in chronic radiation damages that progress over time.

Methods: Dorsal skin of 8-week-old male BALB/cfC3H mice was irradiated with 10 Gy weekly for 4 weeks.

Musculoskeletal infections are common among people who inject drugs. Little is known about the prevalence and characteristics of skin and soft-tissue infections in this patient population, especially in the lower extremity. The aim of this study is to describe the clinical characteristics, bacterial pathogens, and clinical outcomes in adults with foot infections due to intravenous drug use.

Background: Itch is a common clinical sign in skin disorders. While the neural pathways of itch transmission from the skin to the brain are well understood in rodents, the same pathways in dogs remain unclear. The knowledge gap hinders the development of effective treatments for canine itch-related disorders.

Department of Pain Management, The State Key Specialty in Pain Medicine, The Second Affiliated Hospital, Guangzhou Medical University, Guangzhou, China.

Background: The nod-like receptor family pyrin domain-containing 3 (NLRP3) has been implicated in various skin diseases. However, its role in mediating 2, 4-dinitrofluorobenzene (DNFB)-induced chronic itch remains unclear.

Methods: Widetype () and deletion ( )mice, the expression of transient receptor potential (TRP) ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) inhibitor or recombinant mice interleukin-18 (IL-18) were used to establish and evaluate the severity of DNFB-mediated chronic itch.
