Endeavor to discover biorational natural products-based insecticides, two series (27) of novel 9-acyloxy derivatives of cinchonidine and cinchonine were prepared and assessed for their insecticidal activity against by the leaf-dipping method at 1 mg/mL. Among all the compounds, especially derivatives and exhibited the best insecticidal activity with final mortality rates of 75.0% and 71.4%, respectively. Overall, a free 9-hydroxyl group is not a prerequisite for insecticidal activity and C9-substitution is well tolerated; the configuration of C8/9 position is important for insecticidal activity, and 9-configuration is optimal; 6'-OCH moiety is not necessary, removal of it is also acceptable. A nanoemulsion was fabricated from Cananga odorata essential oil (EO) and stabilized by incorporation of Tween 80 using ultrasonication. The major constituents of the EO were benzyl benzoate, linalool, and phenylmethyl ester. Differing sonication amplitude (20-60%) and time (2-10 min) were assessed for effects on nanoemulsion droplet size and polydispersity index (PI).

A series of novel triazone derivatives containing aldehyde hydrazone or ketone hydrazone moieties were designed, synthesized and their biological activities were investigated against , , , , and 14 Kinds of fungi. Most of the aldehyde hydrazone exhibited excellent insecticidal activities against . In particular, the aphicidal activities of compounds (35%) and (30%) were equivalent to pymetrozine (30%) at 5 mg/kg.

Innate immunity is critical for insects to adjust to complicated environments. Studying the insect immune system can aid in identifying novel insecticide targets and provide insights for developing novel pest control strategies. Insects recognize environmental pathogens through pattern recognition receptors, thus activating the innate immune system to eliminate pathogens.
