Unlabelled: . Rare-earth magnet ingestions are a subset of foreign body ingestions and can result in significant morbidity secondary to pressure necrosis. These magnets are best visualized radiographically, typically located in the gastrointestinal tract. However, unusual locations of magnetic adherence may include the hypopharynx along the epiglottis, where only 2 previous cases have been reported. Clinicians should be aware of the potential dangers of rare-earth magnet ingestion and consider atypical locations of attachment in the appropriate clinical setting. . We present an interesting case of a fourteen-year-old female patient who presents with witnessed ingestion of multiple rare-earth magnets. Soft-tissue neck radiographs demonstrate two adjacent rounded radiopaque densities in the hypopharynx. Intraoperative images confirmed the radiographic findings and identified two magnetic balls stuck along the dorsal and ventral aspect of the epiglottis without evidence of pressure necrosis.

Conclusion: This is the first published case of magnetic foreign body adherence to the epiglottis in the Radiology literature. Awareness and recognition of the unique radiographic findings of this rare entity can help clinicians streamline timely management.

Metastasis represents a stage in which the therapeutic objective changes from curing disease to prolonging survival, as detection typically occurs at advanced stages. Technologies for the early identification of disease would enable treatment at a lower disease burden and heterogeneity. Herein, we investigate the vascular dynamics within a synthetic metastatic niche as a potential marker of disease progression.

Foreign body ingestion is a problem that commonly presents in almost all otolaryngologic practices. However, less commonly do those foreign bodies perforate, migrate to, and impact the soft tissue of the neck while nearly invading the carotid sheath that accommodates the major neurovascular supply of the head. We report the case of a patient who had radiologic evidence of foreign body impaction and required neck exploration through an external approach to retrieve a crab leg embedded far within the deep cervical fascia.

We present the case of a patient who came to the emergency department with a significant decrease in vision and dilated pupil in the left eye. Since neurological pathologies were primarily considered, diffusion brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and brain computed tomography (CT) were requested. After the results were reported as normal, we were consulted.

Department of Ophthalmology,Beijing Hospital, National Center of Gerontology Institute of Geriatric Medicine,Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences,Beijing100730,China.

A 68-year-old male developed foreign body sensation in both eyes, photophobia and tearing in the right eye approximately 6 weeks after initiating dupilumab for severe atopic dermatitis. The right eye presented a crescent-shaped superficial-stromal ulcer in the peripheral cornea with an undermined edge, which was separated from the limbus of the cornea by a clear zone. The left eye had a pannus at the limbus of the cornea.

Delayed inflammation after biodegradable and osteoconductive osteofixation in orthognathic surgery.

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, College of Dentistry, Gangneung-Wonju National University, Gangneung, Korea.

Objectives: This study aims to identify patterns and to describe the clinical course of delayed adverse tissue responses in patients who underwent orthognathic osteotomy with biodegradable osteofixation.

Patients And Methods: Through a retrospective review of cases between 2013 and 2020, we identified three patients who underwent bimaxillary osteotomy and fixation with unsintered-hydroxyapatite/poly-L lactic acid (u-HA/PLLA) devices, after which they developed delayed inflammation. These lesions were treated with drainage and/or removal of the devices.
