Tin-doped indium oxide (ITO)/Au/ITO sandwich structures with varying top and bottom ITO film thicknesses were deposited by magnetron sputtering. The effects of varying thickness of the two ITO films on the structural, electrical, and optical properties of the sandwich structures were investigated. X-ray diffraction spectra showed that by inserting an ultrathin Au film, the average grain size of the top ITO layer was significantly increased, but not for the bottom one. The optical properties of the sandwich structures were measured by transmittance measurement and spectroscopic ellipsometry. In the symmetric structure, where the top and the bottom ITO layers had the same thickness, we demonstrated that the crossover wavelength can be changed from the visible range (830 nm) to the near-infrared range (1490 nm) by increasing the top as well as bottom ITO thickness, corresponding to a plasmonic tuning ability of over 600 nm. The evaluation of this trilayer structure as a plasmonic device was asserted based on three quality factors. A comparison of the performance of this trilayer structure with conventional materials was also discussed.

A criterion for the characterization of the retardance effects produced by depolarizing and nondepolarizing linear media on interacting light is established based on Mueller matrices algebra. A consistent general description of retardance properties is performed by means of a serial decomposition of the Mueller matrix into three components, namely an element that encompasses the enpolarizing and depolarizing properties sandwiched by two elliptical retarders containing complete and decoupled information on retardance. The inherent ambiguity derived from the coincident formal structure of rotation matrices and circular retarders is removed though the introduction of the entrance and exit intrinsic reference frames, leading to the concepts of the intrinsic entrance and exit linear retarders, which are defined from the Mueller matrix itself and that are independent of the laboratory reference frames used to represent the incident and emerging polarized light beams, respectively.

A pair of axially chiral thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF) enantiomers, R-TCBN-ImEtPF6 and S-TCBN-ImEtPF6, with intrinsic ionic characteristics were efficiently synthesized by introducing imidazolium hexafluorophosphate to chiral TADF unit. The TADF imidazolium salts exhibited a high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of up to 92%, a small singlet-triplet energy gap (∆EST) of 0.04 eV, as well as reversible redox properties.

The synthesis, structures and magnetic properties of an η5-silole complex and an η5-stannole complex of erbium are reported. The sandwich complex anions [(η5-CpSi)Er(η8-COT)]- and [(η5-CpSn)Er(η8-COT)]-, where CpSi is [SiC4-2,5-(SiMe3)2-3,4-Ph2]2- (1Si), CpSn is [SnC4-2,5-(SiMe3)2-3,4-Me2]2- (1Sn) and COT = cyclo-octatetraenyl, were obtained as their [K(2.2.

The desire to reduce secondary pollution from shielded electronics devices demands electromagnetic interference (EMI) shields with high green index (GI), which is the ratio of absorbance over reflectance. Achieving high GI values simultaneously with high shielding effectiveness (SE) over 50 dB is a serious unresolved challenge. Reducing the impedance mismatch between the shield and free space is the key to reducing the reflection of incoming radiation and enabling more penetration into the body of the shield for absorption.

The interfacial mechanical characteristics of sandwich structures are crucial in defining the comprehensive mechanical performance of the whole structure. Nevertheless, in practical applications, the interface often emerges as the weakest segment due to potential defects in the interface of porous metal sandwich plates (PMSP). This study aims to explore the regulatory mechanisms influencing the mechanical characteristics of nano-SiO-reinforced aluminum foam sandwich structure (AFS) interfaces and to propose an effective strategy to achieve AFS interfaces with superior and stable mechanical properties.
