In recent years, there have been increasingly rapid advances of using bioactive materials in tissue engineering applications. Bioactive materials constitute many different structures based upon ceramic, metallic or polymeric materials, and can elicit specific tissue responses. However, most of them are relatively brittle, stiff, and difficult to form into complex shapes. Hence, there has been a growing demand for preparing materials with tailored physical, biological, and mechanical properties, as well as predictable degradation behavior. Chitosan-based materials have been shown to be ideal bioactive materials due to their outstanding properties such as formability into different structures, and fabricability with a wide range of bioactive materials, in addition to their biocompatibility and biodegradability. This review highlights scientific findings concerning the use of innovative chitosan-based bioactive materials in the fields of tissue engineering, with an outlook into their future applications. It also covers latest developments in terms of constituents, fabrication technologies, structural, and bioactive properties of these materials that may represent an effective solution for tissue engineering materials, making them a realistic clinical alternative in the near future.

Biopolymers, such as collagens, elastin, silk fibroin, spider silk, fibrin, keratin, and resilin have gained significant interest for their potential biomedical applications due to their biocompatibility, biodegradability, and mechanical properties. This review focuses on the design and integration of biomimetic peptides into these biopolymer platforms to control the release of bioactive molecules, thereby enhancing their functionality for drug delivery, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. Elastin-like polypeptides (ELPs) and silk fibroin repeats, for example, demonstrate how engineered peptides can mimic natural protein domains to modulate material properties and drug release profiles.

Aim: To compare the microleakage in class V cavities restored with Activa Bioactive Restorative, Activa Pronto, and nanohybrid composite.
Materials And Methods: Standardized class V cavity preparations (mesiodistal: 3 mm; occlusocervical: 2 mm; axial depth: 1 mm) were made on the buccal surface of 60 extracted intact maxillary premolar teeth. The preparations were divided into three experimental groups ( = 20) depending on the restorative material used.

Efficient methods for synthesizing allenes from readily available starting materials pose a persistent challenge in organic chemistry. In this work, we present a novel two-stage protocol for allene synthesis involving the single-atom insertion into alkenes, facilitated by synergistic photoredox and cobalt catalysis. Diverging from conventional methods such as the Doering-LaFlamme reaction, this photochemical rearrangement approach operates efficiently under mild conditions in a radical-based manner.

The aim of this study was to systematically analyze the differences in bioactive compounds in Ningxia Tan, Oula, and Bahan crossbred mutton, and to examine their effects on minced mutton quality. Initially, characteristic bioactive compounds in mutton were analyzed using principal component analysis. Further investigation assessed the effects of varying concentrations of glycyrrhizin flavonoids (0, 0.

The development of self-elastic sponges with enhanced hemostatic and antibacterial properties to treat noncompressible hemorrhage and facilitate wound healing remains challenging. Herein, we prepared a chitosan sponge reinforced with lauric acid-modified quaternized chitosan (LQC) and attapulgite, features a porous structure, high self-elasticity, and rapid shape recovery. The incorporation of LQC conferred the sponge with an enhanced capacity to promote the adhesion, aggregation, and activation of blood cells, and resistance to infection by Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus; the incorporation of attapulgite enhanced the hydrophilicity and mechanical strength of the sponge, and its ability to activate the intrinsic and extrinsic coagulation pathways.
