High-resolution 31P-NMR is used for the estimation of phosphate-containing compounds levels in native bile of healthy subjects and patients with primary biliary liver cirrhosis and also in the liver biopsies of patients with chronic calculous cholecystitis. The results demonstrate the possibilities of rapid comparative estimation of the content of main phosphate-containing compounds in human bile and liver biopsies aimed at clinical diagnosis of liver and bile duct diseases.

Hydroxyapatite (HAP) and amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) nanoparticles were incorporated into a thiol-ene clickable gelatin network to elucidate to what extent osteogenic differentiation of human dental pulp- and adipose-derived stem cells (HDPSCs/HASCs) could be further boosted. ACP nanoparticles increased the specific surface area by 23% and reduced the density by 13% while maintaining a comparable particle size (ACP: 25 ± 3 nm; HAP: 27 ± 3 nm). Overall, the incorporation of ceramic nanoparticles did not significantly alter the mechanical properties of the ceramic-containing composites compared to the unsubstituted thiol-ene network.

We synthesized lecithin-modified zirconia (LMZ) as an adsorbent, solid-phase extractant, and stationary phase for organic compounds such as organic acids or amino acids. The molecular selectivity of LMZ was evaluated through high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). LMZ exhibits electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions with organic compounds that depend on the pH of the mobile phase.

Hybrid nano- and microparticles based on metal ion crosslinked biopolymers are promising carriers for the development of drug delivery systems with improved biopharmaceutical properties. In this work, dexamethasone phosphate-containing particles based on chondroitin sulfate and chitosan or diethylaminoethyl chitosan additionally crosslinked with Zn were prepared. Depending on the polycation/polyanion ratio in the system, anionic and cationic polyelectrolyte complexes (PECs) were obtained.

With the aim of transforming sewage sludge into a P-fertiliser material in a single combustion step, the chemical processes underlying sewage sludge combustion were analysed using powder X-ray diffraction (P-XRD), infrared spectroscopy (IR), thermogravimetric (TGA) as well as elemental analyses (EA). In addition to the combustion of sewage sludge on its own ("mono-combustion"), additions of different additives prior to the combustion step were also carried out. Based on the very positive effects of the additives sodium and potassium carbonate on the obtained ashes concerning their phosphate solubilities in neutral ammonium citrate (NAC) solution, sewage sludge combustions after additions of NaCO or KCO were investigated in detail.

Four biobased phosphate-containing aryl monomers with methoxy, allyl, and vinyl groups as substituents have been successfully synthesized. Copolymerizing these monomers with thiophenol or mercaptans via the photoclick thiol-ene reaction gives the polymers with refractive indices () of 1.63-1.
