A Novel Hybrid Improved RIME Algorithm for Global Optimization Problems.

Biomimetics (Basel)

December 2024

Department of Computer Science, Durham University, Durham DH1 3LE, UK.

The RIME algorithm is a novel physical-based meta-heuristic algorithm with a strong ability to solve global optimization problems and address challenges in engineering applications. It implements exploration and exploitation behaviors by constructing a rime-ice growth process. However, RIME comes with a couple of disadvantages: a limited exploratory capability, slow convergence, and inherent asymmetry between exploration and exploitation.

[Happiness-A concept for holistic person-centered healthcare in dermatology].

Dermatologie (Heidelb)

February 2025

Klinik und Poliklinik für Dermatologie und Allergologie, Klinikum rechts der Isar, Technische Universität München, TUM School of Medicine and Health, Biedersteiner Str. 29, 80802, München, Deutschland.

Background: Happiness is a concept in positive psychology. Studies have shown links between happiness, courses of diseases and health. In dermatology the role of happiness has not yet been sufficiently investigated.

Those with diabetes mellitus are at high-risk of developing psychiatric disorders, especially mood disorders, yet the link between hyperglycemia and altered motivation has not been thoroughly explored. Here, we characterized value-based decision-making behavior of a streptozocin-induced diabetic mouse model on Restaurant Row, a naturalistic neuroeconomic foraging paradigm capable of behaviorally capturing multiple decision systems known to depend on dissociable neural circuits. Mice made self-paced choices on a daily limited time-budget, accepting or rejecting reward offers based on cost (delays cued by tone pitch) and subjective value (flavors), in a closed-economy system tested across months.

This research utilizes time series models to forecast electricity generation from renewable energy sources and electricity consumption. The configuration of optimal parameters for these models typically requires optimization algorithms, but conventional algorithms may struggle with fixed search patterns and limited robustness. To address this, we propose an auto-evolution hyper-heuristic algorithm named AE-GAPB.

This study addresses the imperative need for an updated approach that incorporates evolving psychological insights and economic theories to better understand decision-making processes in the tourism sector. By integrating the bandwagon effect with the theory of planned behavior (TPB), the study aims to gain deeper insights into the intention-forming processes of American millennials during the pre-trip stage when considering a visit to Thailand. The research amalgamates principles from behavioral economics and traditional psychological theory within the dual-process framework, providing a comprehensive understanding of how American millennials determine their visit intention.
