Strain KR-1 was isolated from pond water collected in Japan. Because this strain was capable of adsorbing palladium particles in sterilized water, strain KR-1 will be a useful biocatalyst for palladium-leaching from metal waste. Here we present a draft genome sequence of sp. KR-1, which consists of a total of 7 contigs containing 4,556,772 bp with a GC content of 70.0% and comprises 4,450 predicted coding sequences. Based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, strain KR-1 was identified as sp. KR-1.

Magnesium aminoclay nanoparticles (MgANs) exert opposing effects on photosynthetic microalgae by promoting carbon dioxide (CO) uptake and inducing oxidative stress. This study explored the potential application of MgAN in the production of algal lipids under high CO concentrations. The impact of MgAN (0.

An aerobic, oligotrophic, Gram-positive, non-sporulating, motile, rod-shaped, palladium-leaching bacterial strain, Deinococcus sp. KR-1, was previously isolated from pond water collected in Japan. This strain grew at 10 °C to 40 °C (optimum 30 °C), at pH 4.

The study presents results of investigations on ingestion capacity in rabbits experimentally infected with two French strains (Fr-1 and Fr-2) and four Polish strains (KGM, SGM, MAL, Kr-1) of VHD virus. The results proved that the strains studied exhibited distinct reactivity even if the VHD virus is thought to be uniform in the biological respect.

The insertion sequence element IS8301 isolated from the radiation resistant bacterium Deinococcus radiodurans strain KD8301 was characterized. IS8301 is comprised of 1,736-bp, lacks terminal inverted repeats and does not duplicate target DNA upon its insertion. The amino acid sequence homology of two open reading frames encoded in IS8301 indicates that this insertion sequence element belongs to the IS200/IS605 group.
