Microvascular obstruction following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is highly prevalent and independently associated with adverse clinical outcomes. Microvascular obstruction is determined by index of the microvascular resistance. We performed a systematic review with meta-analysis of all published randomized clinical trials (RCTs) studying the effect of intra-coronary thrombolysis with PCI as compared to standard treatment among patients with ST-segment elevated myocardial infarction. We included 6 RCTs summing up to 947 patients in the final analysis. Intra-coronary thrombolysis resulted in significantly lower index of microvascular resistance [standardized mean difference: - 13.74, 95% confidence interval (CI): - 16.74 to - 10.73, P value < 0.001, I = 0%]. There was no difference noted in the occurrence of major adverse cardiac events with intra-coronary thrombolysis as compared to standard treatment [Odds ratio: 0.71, 95% CI: 0.46-1.08, P value = 0.11, I = 0%]. The absence of heterogeneity deferred us from using dose-response analysis to account for altering dose used across studies. The results of the present meta-analysis highlights the role of intra-coronary thrombolysis in reducing microvascular obstruction. No effect of intra-coronary thrombolysis was noted on the occurrence of major adverse cardiac events.

Objective: To investigate the association between functional parameters of the microcirculation and the systemic cardiovascular system in a population of pregnant women at risk for gestational hypertension disorders.
Study Design: For this observational study, women at high cardiovascular risk according to maternal anthropometrics, obstetric and medical history, were recruited at random gestational age depending on time of referral to the outpatient clinic for high risk prenatal care at Ziekenhuis Oost Limburg, Genk Belgium. After birth, data of maternal and neonatal outcome were obtained from the hospital records: only women with normal pregnancy (n = 142) and with preeclampsia (n = 34) were included in this analysis.

Skin flap transplantation is a conventional wound repair method in plastic and reconstructive surgery, but infection and ischemia are common complications. Photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy has shown promise for various medical problems, including wound repair processes, due to its capability to accelerate angiogenesis and relieve inflammation. This study investigated the effect of red and blue light on the survival of random skin flaps in methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)-infected Sprague Dawley (SD) rats.

Aims: The Tpeak-Tend interval on electrocardiogram may be a predictor of worse outcomes in Takotsubo syndrome (TTS), but the mechanisms have not been fully determined. This study aimed to investigate the relationships between the corrected Tpeak-Tend (cTp-e) interval and coronary microvascular-dysfunction (CMD) assessed by the angiography-derived index of microvascular resistance (Angio-IMR) and the in-hospital prognosis in patients with TTS.
Methods And Results: We retrospectively evaluated 111 consecutive patients admitted for TTS who underwent coronary angiography at Kindai University Hospital from October 2009 to July 2023.

Scalp reconstruction, particularly with complex defects and infection risks, often favors microvascular free flaps. However, this method can result in unavoidable alopecia and undesirable aesthetics. This report describes a novel case where hair transplantation via follicular unit extraction (FUE) was applied to a free myocutaneous flap.

The treatment and monitoring of infected skin wounds present significant clinical challenges. Herein, a multifunctional poly(deep eutectic solvent) (PDES) electroactive hydrogel is developed by optimizing the components and the ratio of hydrogen donors and acceptors, achieving well wound hemostasis, wound healing, and monitoring administration performace. The PDES hydrogel dressing exhibits mechanical properties, including high toughness, fatigue resistance (over 9000 compression cycles), and superior skin adhesion (over 70 kPa).
