Nanoscale two-dimensional nanostructures have shown great potential as functional components in photocatalysis. Here, investigations on the synthesis of heterostructured hybrids, comprised of 0D CdS nanoparticles as semiconductor and 2D/2D graphene/MoS as co-catalyst, are reported. The approach involves a rapid microwave-assisted reaction in autoclave conditions, by adopting either a one-step or a two-step protocol. The chemical speciation of the nanocomposites was found to depend strongly on the compounding conditions of the precursor substances. The photocatalytic activity was assessed by monitoring the photodegradation rate of 4-nitrophenol in solution using simulated solar light irradiation. The photocatalytic activity of the hybrids may be attributed to a combination of beneficial characteristics, strongly related to the chemical speciation of the composite components. Moreover, intimate contacts of the latter result in efficient heterojunctions. Overall, the present study provides valuable insight into the development of functional heterostructured photocatalysts comprised of two-dimensional nanomaterials.

Accordingly, this study applied a rapid, effective, and easy-to-operate microwave-assisted water extraction (MAWE) technique for the first time to prepare leaf extract (MLE) with improved physiological activities.
The interaction of microwave radiation with carbon-based materials induces rapid, instantaneous heating. When combined with the plasma excitation capabilities of microwaves, this property presents novel avenues for synthesizing carbon-based materials that require high temperatures and catalytic activity. This review investigates the response of carbon-based materials to microwave radiation, analyzes the dielectric loss mechanism responsible for heat generation, and details the microwave plasma excitation mechanisms employed in the synthesis and processing of carbon-based materials.

Nevertheless, the knowledge of the concentration of these elements, helps to predict geochemical characteristics and to bring information about the crude oil source. Moreover, Ni and V can cause problems during the crude oil refining process.
Microwave-assisted oxide reduction has emerged as a promising method to electrify chemical looping processes for renewable hydrogen production. Moreover, these thermochemical cycles can be used for thermochemical air separation, electrifying the O generation by applying microwaves in the reduction step. This approach offers an alternative to conventional cryogenic air separation, producing pure streams of O and N.
A new functional group transformation allowing the synthesis of methyl-dithioesters from readily available trifluoromethyl arenes defluorinative functionalization has been developed. This microwave-assisted method is operationally simple, rapid, and eliminates the need for pre-functionalization while accommodating a broad range of functional groups. In addition, it does not rely on highly odorous thiol sources, and utilizes the commercially available reagent BFSMe complex as a multifunctional Lewis acid/sulfur source/defluorination and demethylation agent.
