Scintillators form the chief device for radiation detection, and the study of their characteristics and their related theories is very significant. Specifically, the nonlinear behavior of scintillators under high excitation density has been closely studied owing to its direct influence on the measurements of radiation. We propose a new method to calibrate the nonlinearity of scintillators based on the electron pulse generated by a linear electron accelerator. The nonlinear light yield of several commonly used scintillators versus fluence of 70 MeV electrons in a 10 ps pulse has been measured by adjusting the charge of electron pulses, and the deposition energy threshold is also simulated and calculated. The results show that the deposition energy threshold for the occurrence of 5% nonlinearity is highest for two types of oxide scintillators, viz. LSO and PbWO, followed by fluoride scintillators, viz. BaF and CeF, and the threshold for a plastic scintillator EJ232 is lowest.

This study investigates the motion of an electron in a Coulomb potential driven by an intense linearly polarized XUV laser pulse analyzed using Gordon-Volkov wave functions. The wave function is decomposed into spherical partial waves to model the scattered electron wave packet after the recollision with a proton. This interaction triggers high harmonic generation, producing coherent X-ray pulses with frequencies that are integer multiples of the XUV field.

Novel coumarin-triphenyliminophosphorane (TPIPP) fluorophores, synthesized via a nonhydrolytic Staudinger reaction, exhibit remarkable redox-responsive optical properties. Upon chemical and electrochemical oxidation, these compounds display a hypsochromic shift in absorption from 430 to 350 nm, accompanied by up to 11-fold fluorescence enhancement under 405 nm excitation. The fluorescence switching occurs at an electrochemical oxidation potential of approximately +2.

The inclusion of redox mediators into electrocatalytic systems facilitates rapid electron shuttling kinetics and boosts the overall catalytic performance of the electrode. This approach overcomes the sluggish reaction dynamics associated with direct electron transfer, which may be impeded by restricted analyte access to the electrode's active sites. In contrast to conventional synthetic redox mediators, naturally sourced phytomolecule rutin trihydrate (RT), extracted from apple juice, offers potential ecological advantages.

To what extent sildenafil, a selective inhibitor of the type-5 phosphodiesterase modulates systemic redox status and cerebrovascular function during acute exposure to hypoxia remains unknown. To address this, 12 healthy males (aged 24 ± 3 y) participated in a randomized, placebo-controlled crossover study involving exposure to both normoxia and acute (60 min) hypoxia (Fi = 0.14), followed by oral administration of 50 mg sildenafil and placebo (double-blinded).

This paper summarizes the main findings of a study which aimed to examine the electrochemical oxidation of homovanillic acid (HVA), the final metabolite of dopamine. A pencil graphite electrode (PGE) was used as working electrode and the measurements were performed by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The type and the composition of the graphite leads used as PGE, the pH of the supporting electrolyte, as well as the scan rates were optimized by CV.
