Mirror movements (MMs), which are involuntary movements of one limb that synchronously mirror voluntary movements of the contralateral limb, are a relatively uncommon complication of strokes. Here we report what appears to be the first case of putamen infarction manifesting as MMs in one side of the body induced by contralateral hemiballism. MMs and hemiballism were nearly entirely eliminated after one week of clonazepam and haloperidol therapy. During the subsequent one year of standard ischemic stroke prevention measures, no further episodes of involuntary movement occurred. Our case and literature review highlight that acute stroke can manifest as hemiballism and MMs, which should be recognized as soon as possible to ensure timely management.

The aim of the current study was to investigate visual scan patterns for the self-face in infants with the ability to recognize themselves with a photograph. 24-month-old infants (N = 32) were presented with faces including the self-face in the upright or inverted orientation. We also measured infants' ability to recognize oneself in a mirror and with a photograph.

Introduction: Robot-assisted mirror therapy has been widely developed to help remodeling of premotor cortex for patients suffering from motor disability of limbs. Nevertheless, it is difficult to achieve real-time adaptive control in robot-assisted mirror rehabilitation training, particularly for patients with varying levels of limb impairment.
Methods: This paper proposes an equivalent kinematics control framework based on the Broaden Learning System model for active robotic mirror rehabilitation, where people's bilateral upper limbs actively perform mirror movements to enhance the impaired limb's participation.
