Photocatalysis has attracted more and more attention as a possible solution to environmental, water, and energy crises. Although some photocatalytic materials have already proven to perform well, there are still some problems that should be solved for the broad commercialization of photocatalysis-based technologies. Among them, cheap and easy recycling, as well as stability issues, should be addressed.

Bacteria have developed a cell-to-cell communication system called quorum sensing (QS), allowing them to regulate group behavior and synchronize the expression of virulence factors, responsible for increasing their infection capacity and resistance to antimicrobials. Although the control of microbial infections through the inhibition of microbial growth has traditionally been the basis of antimicrobial chemotherapy, the emergence of antimicrobial resistance has led to the search for new microbial control strategies, namely through the inhibition of QS. Among the agents studied to inhibit this bacterial communication are essential oils (EO), which are considered very effective QS inhibitors.

Animal feed significantly influences the content and quality of animal products consumed by humans and plays a crucial role in the food chain. To simultaneously analyze 345 pesticide residues in poultry feed, a modified Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged, and Safe (QuEChERS) method was developed, utilizing gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS). Validation studies were conducted with spiked pesticide standards, and commercial poultry feed samples were analyzed.

Occupational exposure to smoke and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) poses significant health risks, especially for commercial fish smokers who are regularly exposed to high levels of smoke and particulate matter. This study aimed to evaluate the exposure levels and assess the health risks associated with PAHs, phenols, phthalates, and substituted benzenes among 155 fish smokers in Ghana. A total of 155 urine samples from fish smokers across selected coastal regions in Ghana were collected and analyzed.

Caine-based anesthetics are frequently used in the production and transportation of aquatic products, but residues in fish threaten human health. A rapid, sensitive, and effective method was developed for detecting caine-based anesthetics and their metabolite residues in fish using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry coupled with a modified QuEChERS (quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe) method. The sample was extracted with 0.
