Summary: Modified nucleotides play a crucial role in gene expression regulation. Here, we describe methplotlib, a tool developed for the visualization of modified nucleotides detected from Oxford Nanopore Technologies sequencing platforms, together with additional scripts for statistical analysis of allele-specific modification within-subjects and differential modification frequency across subjects.
Availability And Implementation: The methplotlib command-line tool is written in Python3, is compatible with Linux, Mac OS and the MS Windows 10 Subsystem for Linux and released under the MIT license. The source code can be found at https://github.com/wdecoster/methplotlib and can be installed from PyPI and bioconda. Our repository includes test data, and the tool is continuously tested at travis-ci.com.
Supplementary Information: Supplementary data are available at Bioinformatics online.

A dual-signal aptamer-based assay utilizing colorimetric and fluorescence techniques was developed for the determination of zearalenone (ZEN). The CdTe quantum dots, serving as the fluorescent signal source, were surface-modified onto FeO@SiO and subsequently functionalized with the aptamer. The COF-Au was modified with complementary chain, which possessed peroxide (POD)-like enzyme properties, and could catalyze the peroxidation of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to ox TMB, resulting in the generation of colorimetric signals.

This study presents characterisation of diatom's PtLPCAT1 (acyl-CoA: lysophosphatidylcholine acyltransferase) activity in phospholipid remodelling. In this research microsomal fractions of yeast Δale1 mutant overexpressing PtLPCAT1 were used as a source of the tested enzyme. In the assays evaluating remodelling of different phospholipids by PtLPCAT1 not modified microsomal fractions of the tested yeast were used.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a devastating, uniformly lethal degenerative disease of motor neurons, presenting with relentlessly progressive muscle atrophy and weakness. More than fifty genes carrying causative or disease-modifying variants have been identified since the 1990s, when the first ALS-associated variant in the gene SOD1 was discovered. The most commonly mutated ALS genes in the European populations include the C9orf72, SOD1, TARDBP and FUS.

Integrated genome-wide association study and linkage mapping revealed genetic basis of alkalinity tolerance during rice germination. The key gene OsWRKY49 was further verified in transgenic plants. With the widespread use of the rice direct seeding cultivation model, improving the tolerance of rice varieties to salinity-alkalinity at the germination stage has become increasingly important.

Expansion of nucleotide repeat sequences is associated with more than 40 human neuromuscular disorders. The different pathogenic mechanisms associated with the expression of nucleotide repeats are not well understood. We use a Caenorhabditis elegans model that expresses expanded CUG repeats only in cells of the body wall muscle and recapitulate muscle dysfunction and impaired organismal motility to identify the basis by which expression of RNA repeats is toxic to muscle function.
