Background: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) have lifelong health consequences, yet screening remains challenging. Particularly in clinical settings, brief screeners that could lead to comprehensive assessments may be more feasible. We explore how two ACEs (economic hardship, parental/caregiver divorce/separation) are associated with other ACEs, asthma, and emotional, developmental, or behavioral (EDB) problems.
Methods: Using the 2016 National Survey of Children's Health, we assessed the associations between ACEs and asthma and EDB problems and calculated sensitivities, specificities and predictive values.
Results: Parents frequently reported 1+ ACEs for their child (50.3%). Individual ACE frequency ranged from 4.2 to 29.6%; all were significantly associated with EDB problems (adjusted odds ratios (aORs): 2.2-5.1) and more ACEs confirmed higher odds. Two ACES (economic hardship, parental/caregiver divorce/separation) co-occurred frequently with other ACEs, having either predicted EDB problems similarly to other ACEs (aORs 1.8; 95% CI 1.4, 2.3) and having both greatly increased odds (aOR 3.8; 95% CI 2.8, 5.2). The negative predictive value of EDB problems associated with citing neither ACE was high (95.7%). Similar trends with asthma were observed.
Conclusions: Economic hardship and caregiver separation are strongly associated with other ACEs, EDB problems and asthma. A brief screener including these ACEs may reduce clinical barriers to broader ACEs screening.

Multimodal medical image fusion fuses images with different modalities and provides more comprehensive and integrated diagnostic information. However, current multimodal image fusion methods cannot effectively model non-local contextual feature relationships, and due to direct aggregation of the extracted features, they introduce unnecessary implicit noise into the fused images. To solve the above problems, this paper proposes a novel dual-branch hybrid fusion network called EMOST for medical image fusion that combines a convolutional neural network (CNN) and a transformer.

Robust segmenting with noisy labels is an important problem in medical imaging due to the difficulty of acquiring high-quality annotations. Despite the enormous success of recent developments, these developments still require multiple networks to construct their frameworks and focus on limited application scenarios, which leads to inflexibility in practical applications. They also do not explicitly consider the coarse boundary label problem, which results in sub-optimal results.

Background: Intratendious ganglions are rare lesions, especially on the foot and ankle. Although several studies have presented the intratendinous ganglion of the foot and ankle, there are only few reported cases, and no cases of recurrence or secondary surgery have been reported.
Case Summary: We present the case of a 32-year-old man with an intratendinous ganglion of the second extensor digitorum brevis (EDB) tendon that recurred after ganglion excision.

Rapid anthropogenic nutrient enrichment has caused widespread ecological problems in aquatic ecosystems and the resulting eutrophication has dramatically changed fish communities throughout the world. However, few studies addressed how fish communities responded to eutrophication in terms of multidimensional functional and taxonomic structure, especially how eutrophication acted as an environment filter on functional traits. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of eutrophication on fish species composition, community metrics and species functional traits in 26 shallow lakes from the middle reaches of Yangtze River basin, China.

ST segment morphology is closely related to cardiovascular disease. It is used not only for characterizing different diseases, but also for predicting the severity of the disease. However, the short duration, low energy, variable morphology and interference from various noises make ST segment morphology classification a difficult task.
