Relations between trajectories of weight loss and changes in psychological health over a period of 2 years following bariatric metabolic surgery.

Qual Life Res

January 2025

Department of Health Psychology, Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Groningen, University Medical Center Groningen, Antonius Deusinglaan 1, 9713 AV, Groningen, The Netherlands.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify trajectories of BMI, obesity-specific health-related quality of life (HR-QoL), and depression trajectories from pre-surgery to 24 months post-bariatric metabolic surgery (BMS), and explore their associations, addressing subgroup differences often hidden in group-level analyses.

Method: Patients with severe obesity (n = 529) reported their HR-QoL and depression before undergoing BMS, and at 12 and 24 months post-operation. Latent Class Growth Analysis was used to identify trajectories of BMI, HR-QoL and depression.

The anaerobic bacterium Clostridium cellulovorans is a promising candidate for the sustainable production of biofuels and platform chemicals due to its cellulolytic properties. However, the genomic engineering of the species is hampered because of its poor genetic accessibility and the lack of genetic tools. To overcome this limitation, a protocol for triparental conjugation was established that enables the reliable transfer of vectors for markerless chromosomal modification into C.

SHP2 promotes the epithelial-mesenchymal transition in triple negative breast cancer cells by regulating β-catenin.

J Cancer Res Clin Oncol

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Laboratory Medicine, Ministry of Education of China, School of Laboratory Medicine and Life Sciences, Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou, 325035, Zhejiang, China.

Purpose: Growing evidence suggests that the tyrosine phosphatase SHP2 is pivotal for tumor progression. Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most lethal subtype of breast cancer, characterized by its high recurrence rate, aggressive metastasis, and resistance to chemotherapy. Understanding the mechanisms of tumorigenesis and the underlying molecular pathways in TNBC could aid in identifying new therapeutic targets.

Clinicopathologic stratification demonstrates survival differences between endometrial carcinomas with mismatch repair deficiency and no specific molecular profile: a cohort study.

Int J Gynecol Cancer

January 2025

Helsinki University Hospital and University of Helsinki, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Helsinki, Finland; University of Helsinki, Faculty of Medicine, Helsinki University Hospital and Research Program in Applied Tumor Genomics, Department of Pathology, Helsinki, Finland.

Objective: Endometrial carcinomas with mismatch repair deficiency (MMRd) and no specific molecular profile (NSMP) are considered to have intermediate prognoses. However, potential prognostic differences between these molecular subgroups remain unclear due to the lack of standardized control for clinicopathologic factors. This study aims to evaluate outcomes of MMRd and NSMP endometrial carcinomas across guideline-based clinicopathologic risk groups.

Background: Poor acute postoperative pain control, coupled with the use of intravenous medications with a limited and unsafety efficacy spectrum, has led to new therapeutic alternative explorations to reduce adverse events while increasing its analgesic efficacy. There cannabinoids have been proposed as a useful control agent in post-surgical pain. Nevertheless, to date, there is no solid evidence to evaluate them.
