Understanding the molecular mechanisms of precancerous lesion of esophageal cancer is beneficial for early diagnosis and early treatment. The deletion of gene is common in esophageal cancer, but its pathogenesis is still unclear. An animal model is urgently needed to study the mechanisms of esophageal cancer and deficiency. KO mice (p53.ED-L2-Cre) and the corresponding control Loxp mice (p53.ED-L2-Cre) were obtained by crossing between the p53 mice and ED-L2-Cre mice. Methylbenzylnitrosamine (NMBA) was injected subcutaneously to induce esophageal precancerous lesion of these two groups of mice. Hematoxylin and eosin staining analysis was performed to evaluate the number and extent of esophageal precancerous lesions in KO mice and Loxp mice at the 16th and 48th weeks. Immunohistochemistry analysis was used to detect the change of Ki67, P21, Bcl-2, and Bax proteins. The number and extent of esophageal precancerous lesions in KO mice were significantly increased compared with the control at the 16th and 48th weeks under the induction of NMBA. The Ki67, P21, Bcl-2, and Bax proteins also had cancer-related pathological characteristics. These results suggest that the esophageal precancerous lesion model was established under the combined effect of gene deletion in esophageal epithelium and NMBA, which could provide a new esophageal precancerous lesion model to explore the mechanism of precancerous lesions.

Background: Barrett's esophagus (BE) is a precancerous condition often associated with esophageal adenocarcinoma, influenced by both genetic and environmental factors. However, there is controversy regarding the causal relationship between cerebral cortical structures and BE, with recent studies suggesting a potential neurobiological component to its multifactorial etiology. This study aims to clarify this relationship by utilizing Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to investigate the potential causal effects of cortical structure variations on BE risk.

Esophageal cancer is one of the global public health problems, which is a serious threat to life and health. Screening is not only an important main measures to reduce the incidence and mortality of esophageal cancer, but also an effective strategy for early prevention and early treatment. There are significant differences in the screening status of esophageal adenocarcinoma and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma cancer between China and abroad.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a treatment modality clinically approved for several oncologic indications, including esophageal and endobronchial cancers, precancerous conditions including Barrett's esophagus and actinic keratosis, and benign conditions like age-related macular degeneration. While it is currently clinically underused, PDT is an area of significant research interest. Because PDT relies on the absorption of light energy by intrinsic or administered absorbers, the dosimetric quantity of interest is the absorbed energy per unit mass of tissue, proportional to the fluence rate of light in tissue.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is a highly heterogeneous and aggressive malignancy. The progression, invasiveness, and metastatic potential of ESCC are shaped by a multitude of cells within the tumor microenvironment (TME), including tumor cells, immune cells, endothelial cells, as well as fibroblasts and other cell types. Recent advancements in single-cell sequencing technologies have significantly enhanced our comprehension of the diverse landscape of ESCC.

Background And Aims: Oral microbiota may contribute to the development of upper gastrointestinal (UGI) disorders. We aimed to study the association between the microbiome of saliva, subgingival and buccal mucosa, and UGI disorders, particularly precancerous lesions. We also aimed to determine which oral site might serve as the most effective biomarker for UGI disorders.
