Military personnel often encounter situations that can trigger acute stress, which may affect operational performance. Therefore, it is important to examine stress responses in controlled environments to obtain more insights in performance-influencing effects of acute stress. This study investigated the impact of passive heat exposure combined with virtual combat scenarios on cardiovascular and psychophysiological parameters in a controlled setting.

The ever-growing contamination of the environment by plastics is a major scientific and societal concern. Specifically, the study of microplastics (1 μm to 5 mm), nanoplastics (< 1 μm), and their leachates is a critical research area as they have the potential to cause detrimental effects, especially when they impact key ecological species. Marine mussels, as ecosystem engineers and filter feeders, are particularly vulnerable to this type of pollution.

Understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying thermal acclimation and heat shock responses (HSR) in marine ectotherms is critical for assessing their adaptive capacity in the context of climate change and climate extremes. This study examines the expression dynamics of heat shock proteins (HSPs) in the scallop Nodipecten subnodosus, shedding light on their role in thermal adaptation. Our analysis revealed the presence of several conserved functional signatures in N.
