Response of hybrid III and Mil-Lx ATD legs to explosively driven vehicle floor loading.

Published: March 2020

Results are reported of small-scale explosive experiments with Hybrid III and Mil-Lx anthropomorphic test device (ATD) legs. The legs were subject to loadings from deforming metallic plates, driven by explosive loadings to replicate the movement of the floor of a protected vehicle subject to a land-mine strike. The forces measured by the legs are reported and compared between the two different leg types. The benefits of protective measures, including false-floors and commercially available footpads, are compared for their ability to reduce the forces measured in each leg type. It is concluded that the two leg types respond differently to different protective measures and hence cannot be used interchangeably.

Aminobenzoic Acid Covalently Modified Polyoxotungstates Based on {XW} Clusters with Proton Conductivity Property.

Inorg Chem

January 2025

Henan Key Laboratory of Polyoxometalate Chemistry, College of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences, Henan University, Kaifeng, Henan 475004, P. R. China.

Three cases of aminobenzoic acid hybrid polyoxotungstates, Na(HO)[(HPWO) (OCCHNH)]·7HO (), K(HO)[(AsWO)(OCCHNH)]·4HO (), and [(HN(CH)]Na(HO)[(SbWO) (OCCHNH)]·7HO (), were successfully synthesized. This is the first report of the successful assembly of the hexanuclear {XW} (X = HP, As, or Sb) clusters and organic carboxylic acid (para aminobenzoic acid) ligands. All three hybrids feature a common {XW} unit composed of a six-membered {WO} octahedral ring capped by one {XO} trigonal pyramid.

Introduction: People experiencing low back pain (LBP) could potentially benefit from multimedia educational resources that integrate self-management strategies and improve awareness of the benefits of staying active and about medications that offer limited benefits, such as paracetamol. Primary care waiting rooms are potential spaces for presenting health promotion resources to improve health literacy through the dissemination of easily accessible health information. This feasibility study aims to explore the feasibility of conducting a large-scale trial to investigate the benefits of multimedia educational resources delivered at outpatient physiotherapy waiting rooms of public hospitals to support patients to participate in physical activity and reduce paracetamol intake for LBP.

Hybrid Repair of Ascending Aortic Intramural Hematoma and Arch Ulcer in a 74-Year-Old Woman - A Case Report.

Am J Case Rep

January 2025

Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Fujian Heart Medical Center, Union Hospital, Fujian Medical University, Fuzhou, Fujian, China.

BACKGROUND Acute intramural hematoma (IMH) of the ascending thoracic aorta and aortic arch is a life-threatening condition, particularly in elderly patients with comorbidities, due to its risk of progression and rupture. Unlike aortic dissection, IMH lacks an intimal tear, influencing both clinical presentation and treatment strategy. This report describes a 74-year-old hypertensive woman with type A IMH and a penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer (PAU), managed with a hybrid surgical approach that combines external Dacron wrapping of the ascending aorta and endovascular stenting of the aortic arch with in-situ fenestration of the supra-aortic arteries.

Planting native flora is a popular conservation strategy for pollinators. When searching for native plants, consumers may encounter cultivars of native plants, which can have different phenotypic traits than plants found in wild populations ("wild-type native plants"). Previous research evaluating pollinator visitation to wild-type native plants and native cultivars has yielded mixed results, in terms of whether their visitation rates are similar or distinct.
