A new strategy for the hapten design of natural glycoside and application for the preparation of antibody is reported in this work. With astragaloside IV (AGS-IV) as an example, C6"-CHOH on a glucosyl group was selectively oxidized by 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO) oxidation to C6"-COOH, which was subsequently condensed with -NH on bovine serum albumin to get artificial antigen. Then, the successful preparation of artificial antigen was verified by TCL, SDS-PAGE, UV, and MALDI-TOF-MS. Finally, rabbits were immunized with artificial antigen to obtain an antibody against AGS-IV. After tests of the titer, IC, and cross-reactivity, the results showed that the antibody prepared by TEMPO oxidation in this work had higher specificity than that the antibody prepared by conventional sodium periodate (NaIO) oxidation. The hapten, as a carboxylic acid derivative of AGS-IV, has better water solubility than AGS IV, which is more suitable for the synthesis of the hapten-carrier protein conjugate in aqueous phase, achieving another virtue of TEMPO oxidation over NaIO oxidation. This new strategy provides new ideas for the design of haptens of other natural glycosides, as well as the preparation of their antibodies.

The applicability of cellulose and its derivatives is greatly depends on their attributes such as aspect ratio, morphology, surface chemistry, crystallinity, as well as their thermal and mechanical properties. However, these attributes can alter according to the utilized raw material, size classifications, extraction techniques, or fibrillation methods. Among these, the effect of raw material particle size on cellulose properties has received limited attention in scientific studies.

Activated carbon is extensively utilized in blood purification applications. However, its performance has been significantly limited by their poor blood compatibility. In this work, 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinyl-1-oxyl (TEMPO)-oxidized cellulose nanofibers (TOCN) and activated carbon (AC) were used to form composite beads by the drop curing method to improve hemocompatibility.

TEMPO-CNF film modified by two-dimension transition metal MXene has certain antibacterial properties. However, the problem of long-lasting stability greatly restricts the feasibility of long-term use of the composite film. Here, we introduced polyaniline (PANI) as a modifying molecule, which was electrostatically adsorbed on the surface of the MXene nanosheets to prevent its self-stacking and delay its oxidation.

In recent years, conductive gel materials have attracted extensive attention in the field of flexible electronics because of their excellent elasticity. When constructed as gel fibers, they can adapt to greater deformation, be woven, and be assembled with fabrics to make wearable smart devices without compromising comfort. However, gel fibers reported often exhibit insufficient mechanical properties and poor adaptability to different environment.
