Background: Menisci, one of the most important anatomical structures of the knee joint, plays a role in load transfer, stability, shock absorption, prevention of articular cartilage degeneration, and proprioception. Type I collagen, the main component of the meniscus, and type II collagen fibers play an important role in the stability of the knee joint. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Naturagen® 4 Joint product containing type I, II, and III collagen on pain, quality of life, and physical functions in patients with meniscopathy.

Article Synopsis
  • Physical activity enhances liver health and reduces oxidative stress, potentially through the protein irisin, with the study focusing on the gene/protein HSP70 and miR-223a in the context of endurance exercise and irisin injection.
  • A total of 21 mice were divided into three groups (control, endurance training, irisin injection) to analyze gene and protein expression using techniques like real-time PCR and Western blot analysis over an 8-week period.
  • Results showed significant increases in HSP70 expression and serum irisin levels in both the endurance and irisin groups, while miR-223a levels decreased, suggesting that irisin injection could effectively mimic the benefits of prolonged endurance exercise.

Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma (FLC) is a rare liver cancer characterized by a fusion oncokinase of the genes DNAJB1 and PRKACA, the catalytic subunit of protein kinase A (PKA). A few FLC-like tumors have been reported showing other alterations involving PKA. To better understand FLC pathogenesis and the relationships among FLC, FLC-like, and other liver tumors, we performed a massive multi-omics analysis.

Objective: We aimed to evaluate the characteristics, complications and outcomes of necrotizing pneumonia (NP) requiring surgical intervention.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of all children who underwent surgical therapy for NP from January 2010 to December 2023. Patients were analyzed based on two surgical approaches: anatomic resection (AR) or non-AR (NAR).

Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) in the head and neck present significant challenges due to airway management complexities and hemorrhage risks. This case report describes a 15-year-old female with a congenital facial AVM causing dyspnea and obstructive symptoms. The patient required angioembolization of the AVM, but many hospitals deferred the procedure due to the anticipated difficult airway and severe bleeding risks.
