Using the triazine ring as the stabilizing factor, a series of energy-safety balanced fused ring compounds were successfully studied. Compounds , , and ·HO were further confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The detonation performance and safety parameters associated with impact and friction sensitivities were investigated by using EXPLO5 (version 6.01) and BAM methods, respectively. Based on their good detonation properties and high thermal and mechanical stabilities, these materials are potentially high performance insensitive explosives.

Myocardial infarction can lead to the loss of billions of cardiomyocytes, and while cell-based therapies are an option, immature nature of in vitro-generated human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cardiomyocytes (iCMs) is a roadblock to their development. Existing iPSC differentiation protocols don't go beyond producing fetal iCMs. Recently, adult extracellular matrix (ECM) was shown to retain tissue memory and have some success driving tissue-specific differentiation in unspecified cells in various organ systems.

An extensive thermochemical study of γ-undecanolactone and δ-undecanolactone has been developed using two complementary calorimetric techniques. The combustion energy of each compound was determined by static-bomb combustion calorimetry, and the corresponding enthalpy of vaporization was determined by high-temperature Calvet microcalorimetry, in which both properties of each compound are reported at = 298.15 K.

The liver is an indispensable metabolic organ, responsible for accumulating and transporting various nutritional compounds in hepatocytes. However, the transport of these materials from the liver is an energetically intensive task because they contain a considerable number of hydrophobic components, including free cholesterol, and require specialized transfer proteins to shuttle these substances through an aqueous phase. Liver X receptors (LXRs) induce the expression of cholesterol transporters in macrophages to transport free cholesterol derived from apoptotic cells into extracellular space via high-density lipoproteins.

The COVID-19 pandemic, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, has highlighted the urgent need for novel therapeutic agents targeting viral enzymes such as the main protease (Mpro), which plays a crucial role in viral replication. In this study, we investigate the inhibitory potential of 23 peptides isolated from the skin of amphibians belonging to the Hylidae and Leptodactylidae families against SARS-CoV-2 Mpro. Five peptides demonstrated significant inhibition using a colorimetric Mpro inhibition assay, with IC50 values ranging from 41 to 203 µM.
