A new spin-/ frustrated antiferromagnet, CuO(VO)Cl, was synthesized via chemical vapor transport method that emulates mineral formation in volcanic fumaroles. CuO(VO)Cl is the first copper oxychloride vanadate obtained in the ternary CuO-VO-CuCl anhydrous system. Copper ions constitute a three-dimensional complex framework with a topological structure novel for synthetic compounds but similar to that in the fumarolic mineral yaroshevskite. All of the oxygen atoms except for the O7 site are strongly bonded in the VO tetrahedra. The O7 site belongs to an additional oxygen atom (O) being tetrahedrally coordinated by four Cu atoms, thus forming the OCu tetrahedra. The structural formula can be represented as Cu[CuO](VO)Cl highlighting oxocentered units in the structure. IR spectra reveal several absorption bands at 526, 578, and 601 cm interpreted as a characteristic feature of the OCu tetrahedra. CuO(VO)Cl reveals ferrimagnetic behavior with the Curie temperature = 24 K and the uncompensated moment of ∼ 1.9 μ/f.u.

An endoplasmic reticulum-localized Cu transporter, PhHMA5II1, interacts with copper chaperones and plays an important role in Cu detoxification in petunia. Copper (Cu) is an essential element for plant growth but toxic when present in excess. In this study we present the functional characterization of a petunia (Petunia hybrida) P-type heavy-metal ATPases (HMAs), PhHMA5II1.

Electrically conductive coordination polymers (ECCPs), particularly those incorporating benzenehexathiol (BHT) ligands, are emerging as a distinctive class of electronic materials with tunable semiconducting and metallic properties. However, the exploration of novel ECCPs with low-symmetry structures and electrical anisotropy remains under development. Here, we report the on-water surface synthesis of a novel ECCP, namely Cu5BHT, which exhibits a low-symmetry structure and unique in-plane electrical anisotropy that differs from the well-known Cu3BHT phase.

Accurate quantification of neonicotinoid insecticides is pivotal to ensure environmental safety by examining and mitigating their potential harmful effects on pollinators and aquatic ecosystems. In this scenario, detection of neonicotinoid insecticide, thiamethoxam (TMX), is significant for safeguarding ecological balance and human health. Hence, we developed a highly sensitive electrochemical sensor for detection of TMX in environmental samples, utilizing a novel nanocomposite with superior electrocatalytic properties and integrating an optimized neural network for accurate data analysis.

In the endocrine system, anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) is extremely aggressive since it inhibits the majority of medications and treatments. Therefore, there is an immediate demand to identify new treatment approaches or drugs to deal with ATC. Recently, amino acid Schiff base copper complexes have received great attention due to their excellent anti-tumor activity.
