There is significant interest in the utility of asymmetric nanoaperture arrays as substrates for the surface-enhanced detection, fluorescence, and imaging of individual molecules. This work introduces obliquely-cut, out-of-plane, coaxial layered structures on an aperture edge. We refer to these structures as nanofingernails, which emphasizes their curved, oblique, and out-of-plane features. Broadband coupling into chiral hybrid plasmon modes and helicity-dependent near-field scattering without circular dichroism are demonstrated. The unusually-broadband, multipolar modes of nanofingernail micropore structures exhibit phase retardation effects that may be useful for achieving spatial overlap at different frequencies. The nanofingernail geometry shows new potential for simultaneous polarization-enhanced hyperspectral imaging on apertured, plasmonic surfaces.

Circularly Polarized Light (CPL)-dependent anomalous photovoltaic effect (APVE), characterized by light helicity-manipulated steady photocurrent and above-bandgap photovoltage, has demonstrated significant potential in the fields of photoelectronic and photovoltaics. However, exploiting CPL-dependent APVE in chiral hybrid perovskites, a promising family with intrinsic chiroptical activity and non-centrosymmetric structure, remains challenging. Here, leveraging the flexible structural design of chiral alternating cations intercalation-type perovskites, CPL-dependent APV, for the first time, is achieved in chiral perovskites.

Nanoporous graphene (NPG), laterally bonded carbon nanoribbons, is a promising platform for controlling coherent electron propagation in the nanoscale. However, for its successful device integration NPG should ideally be on a substrate that preserves or enhances its anisotropic transport properties. Here, using an atomistic tight-binding model combined with nonequilibrium Green's functions, we study NPG on graphene and show that their electronic coupling is modulated as a function of the interlayer twist angle.

College of Mechanics and Engineering Science, Hohai University, Nanjing, 211100, China.

Driven by the pressing demand for integration and miniaturization within the terahertz (THz) spectrum, this research introduces an innovative approach to construct chiral structures using dichroism as the target function. This initiative aims to tackle the prevalent issues of single-functionality, narrow application scope, and intricate design in conventional metasurfaces. The proposed multifunctional tunable metasurface employs a graphene-metal hybrid structure to address the critical constraints found in existing designs.

ConspectusMolecular photoelectrocatalysis, which combines the merits of photocatalysis and organic electrosynthesis, including their green attributes and capacity to offer novel reactivity and selectivity, represents an emerging field in organic chemistry that addresses the growing demands for environmental sustainability and synthetic efficiency. This synergistic approach permits access to a wider range of redox potentials, facilitates redox transformations under gentler electrode potentials, and decreases the use of external harsh redox reagents. Despite these potential advantages, this area did not receive significant attention until 2019, when we and others reported the first examples of modern molecular photoelectrocatalysis.

In this study, we developed new chiral hybrid perovskites, (R/S-MBA)(GA)PbI, by incorporating achiral guanidinium (GA) and chiral R/S-methylbenzylammonium (R/S-MBA) into the perovskite framework. The resulting materials possess a distinctive structural configuration, positioned between 1D and 2D perovskites, which we describe as 1.5D.
