Background/objectives: While studies in rat pups suggest that early zinc exposure is critical for optimal brain structure and function, associations of prenatal zinc intake with measures of brain development in infants are unknown. This study aimed to assess the associations of maternal zinc intake during pregnancy with MRI measures of brain tissue microstructure and neurodevelopmental outcomes, as well as to determine whether MRI measures of the brain mediated the relationship between maternal zinc intake and neurodevelopmental indices.

Methods: Forty-one adolescent mothers were recruited for a longitudinal study during pregnancy.

This study aimed to assess the intraday reliability of markerless gait analysis using an RGB-D camera versus a traditional three-dimensional motion analysis (3DMA) system with and without a simulated walking assistant. Gait assessments were conducted on 20 healthy adults walking on a treadmill with a focus on spatiotemporal parameters gathered using the RGB-D camera and 3DMA system. The intraday reliability of the RGB-D camera was evaluated using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC 1, 1), while its consistency with the 3DMA system was determined using ICC (2, 1).

Terahertz radiation patterns can be registered using various detectors; however, in most cases, the scanning resolution is limited. Thus, we propose an alternative method for the detailed scanning of terahertz light field distributions after passing simple and complex structures. Our method relies on using a dielectric waveguide to achieve better sampling resolution.

Objective: To investigate the clinical application effect of the along-axis extraction method in the extraction of impacted mandibular third molars (IMTM) and to compare the biomechanical characteristics of different root extraction techniques through three-dimensional finite element analysis.

Methods: A total of 68 patients requiring IMTM extraction were enrolled and randomly divided into two groups: the experimental group underwent the along-axis extraction method, while the control group underwent the traditional buccal bone removal and root extraction method. The duration of the procedure, intraoperative and postoperative complications were recorded.

Quantification of solvation forces with amplitude modulation AFM.

J Colloid Interface Sci

January 2025

Center for Nano Science and Technology, Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, Via R. Rubattino 81 20134 Milan, Italy. Electronic address:

Hypothesis: Interfacial solvation forces arise from the organisation of liquid molecules near solid surfaces. They are crucial to fundamental phenomena, spanning materials science, molecular biology, and technological applications, yet their molecular details remain poorly understood. Achieving a complete understanding requires imaging techniques, such as three-dimensional atomic force microscopy (3D AFM), to provide atomically resolved images of solid-liquid interfaces (SLIs).
