Published: January 2020

Sixty-four male and 33 female free-ranging rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta) from one of six social groups on the island of Cayo Santiago, Puerto Rico, were surveyed to establish normal values for the hemogram and serum biochemical and electrolytes for the colony. Mean values (± 1 SD) are reported by sex for each of three age groups (2-3, 4-9 and ≥ 10 years). All adult females (≥ 4 years) were pregnant. There were significant differences for a number of variables compared to the range reported in the existing literature, and among the age and sex groups in the sampled population.

Development of industry in the modern world, the number of individuals working in noisy environments is increasing with each passing day. Noise causes an increase in the incidence of cardioembolic events, yet the relevant underlying pathophysiology remains unclear. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between signal peptide and complement C1r/C1s, Uegf, and Bmp1-epidermal growth factor domain-containing protein-1 (SCUBE-1) in the pathophysiology of cardioembolic events in individuals exposed to noisy environments.

Objective: To evaluate the predictive ability of serum beta human chorionic gonadotropin (βhCG) levels and inflammatory markers derived from hemogram parameters in the success of methotrexate (MTX) treatment for tubal ectopic pregnancy.

Methods: This retrospective study involved the examination of patients diagnosed with tubal ectopic pregnancy and treated with a single dose of MTX at our clinic between 2018 and 2023. The monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) were calculated from blood samples taken at the time of presentation.

Background: & Objective: Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is a major cause of mortality globally, with significant morbidity and economic impact. This study aimed to correlate the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI) values in ACS patients with their prognosis via the GRACE scoring criteria and to propose the SIRI as a superior inflammatory marker for predicting ACS prognosis.

Methods: Ethical approval was obtained for a retrospective cross-sectional study, which included patients from the outpatient department and Tamilnadu Accident Emergency Initiative Ward at Government Medical College, Omandurar Government Estate, who were diagnosed with ACS according to American College of Cardiology guidelines from January 2022 to December 2023.

Introduction: AS is a chronic disease with an inflammatory serum microenvironment characterized by increased oxidative stress (OS). Along with OS, reactive oxygen species (ROS) are elevated in patients with AS. Overexpression of ROS causes active inflammatory processes leading to the secretion of pro-inflammatory factors, including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α).
