In the present work, the new aluminium-substituted polyoxometalates of the Anderson-Evans type have been prepared and structurally defined by the reaction of aluminium (III) chloride hexahydrate and sodium tungstate dihydrate/sodium molybdate dihydrate in an aqueous basic medium. Elemental analysis, FT-IR, TGA, H NMR, and P NMR analysis revealed that these polyoxometalates had the following formula: [PhP][Al(OH)MoO]·4HO , [PhP][Al(OH)WO]·4HO , [CHN][Al(OH)MoO]·4HO , [CHN][Al(OH)WO]·4HO . The compounds and show promising antibacterial activity against gram-positive ATCC 25923 and gram-negative ATCC 25922 bacteria.

Ureidopyrimidone (UPy) is an important building block for constructing functional supramolecular polymers and soft materials based on their characteristic quadruple hydrogen bonds. While the evidence from the single-crystal X-ray diffraction data for the existence of linear hydrogen bonding has still been absent up to now. To obtain the crystals of UPy-containing molecules with high quality, enhanced rigidity and crystallinity are expected.

An all-inorganic, novel bis-SbO-functionalized A-type Anderson-Evans polyoxometalate, [Ni(HO)]KH[NiMoO(SbO)]·5HO (), has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. The chemical composition, molecular structure, and elemental oxidation states of the resulting compound have been systematically characterized by various techniques, including single-crystal X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The title complex has been investigated for the first time as a catalyst for visible-light-driven hydrogen production by coupling with a [Ir(coumarin)(dtbbpy)][PF] photosensitizer and a triethanolamine (TEOA) sacrificial electron donor.

Versatile post-functionalisation strategy for the formation of modular organic-inorganic polyoxometalate hybrids.

Hybrid structures incorporating different organic and inorganic constituents are emerging as a very promising class of materials since they synergistically combine the complementary and diverse properties of the individual components. Hybrid materials based on polyoxometalate clusters (POMs) are particularly interesting due to their versatile catalytic, redox, electronic, and magnetic properties, yet the controlled incorporation of different clusters into a hybrid structure is challenging and has been scarcely reported. Herein we propose a novel and general strategy for combining multiple types of metal-oxo clusters in a single hybrid molecule.

Chiral hexamers of organically modified polyoxometalates ionic complexation.

State Key Laboratory of Supramolecular Structure and Materials, College of Chemistry, Jilin University, Changchun 130012, China.

Anderson-Evans type polyoxometalates (POMs) that are modified on double sides with anthracene groups through the covalent linking of β-amino acid enantiomers are synthesized. The modified Anderson-Evans POMs are successfully used for the construction of chiral hexamers where a chiral spacer is added through the ion complexation of a sodium ion. The novel chiral hexamer enantiomers maintain their structure stability in organic solvents and their structures and properties are characterized by a series of physicochemical measurements.
